Yes exactly they wanted to get waivers to import workers instead of paying Americans what they demand.

"culture" its all about the dollars. People will work in horrible conditions if the pay is right.

Cornish Pasty Co. coming to historic Downtown Glendale building
A popular British-themed Valley restaurant and pub is joining an exciting lineup of establishments at the historic Gaslight Building in Downtown Glendale. NAI Horizon Managing Director | Retail, Matt Harper, CCIM, represented the landlord in a long-term lease for the Valley’s eighth location of Cornish Pasty Co., at 5747-5751 W. Glendale Ave., in Downtown Glendale. Cornish Pasty will take 3,510 SF.

Cornish Pasty joins Simple Machine Brewing at the Gaslight Building. Last year Harper also represented the landlord in the retail lease for Simple Machine Brewing .

“We are excited to reach full occupancy on our commercial storefronts at this great location with these great local concepts,” Harper said. “Their vibrancy and collaborative co-tenancy will be a destination for visitors to Downtown Glendale and the surrounding West Valley for years to come.”

Cornish Pasty’s other Valley locations include Tempe, North Phoenix, Downtown Phoenix, Mesa, and Scottsdale. It also has locations in Jerome, Flagstaff, and Boulder City and Las Vegas, Nevada.

The establishment is famous for its namesake pasties, a savory hand pie that originates from Cornwall, England. It will also feature a pub that will offer craft and imported beers. The Glendale location is scheduled to open in spring 2024.

We are excited to be part of the Downtown Glendale community and look forward to sharing our passion for pasties and a good brew with you all,” said Dean Thomas, owner of Cornish Pasty. “Our menu will feature over 40 different pasty creations, all made from scratch along with homemade soups, desserts, salads and unique appetizers. All set in a non-pretentious British pub atmosphere.”

Downtown Glendale attracts more than 1.6 million yearly visitors with its more than 150 unique and independently owned shops, boutiques, restaurants, and services. The Gaslight Building is centrally located in the heart of Downtown Glendale, adjacent to the $70 million renovation of Glendale City Hall, Murphy Park, and outdoor concert venue.

“Bringing the Cornish Pasty brand to downtown Glendale marks another exciting phase in our community’s growth,” said Daniel Sabillon, Deputy Director over Downtown Redevelopment. “This new addition serves as a catalyst for the continued revitalization of the downtown area, attracting locals and visitors alike.”

Cornish Pasty was represented by Richard Lewis with SVN.

Stadium Point

Looks like Stadium Point is close to breaking ground.

https://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/news/2024/02/05/stadium-point-peoria-construction-start-p83.html

Quote:
Stadium Point, a major mixed-use development that is expected to boost Peoria's P83 entertainment district, could break ground as soon as this summer, according to the master developer Steinhauer Properties Inc.

The 1 million-square-foot development, which has been planned since 2019, will feature luxury lifestyle apartments, hospitality, retail, restaurants, central pedestrian gathering spaces and class A office high-rises at full build-out.

It's slated for multiple phases and will be constructed across 17 acres at the Peoria Sports Complex — the Spring Training facility for the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres — along 83rd Avenue and south of Bell Road.

Greg Steinhauer, president of Washington-based Steinhauer Properties, said they are fully entitled and can pull site development permits "at any time."

The project will cost more than $510 million to build but an updated figure was not disclosed.

"Currently we are in the capital markets and our goal is to break ground this summer," Steinhauer said in a recent email to the Business Journal.
Quote:
The first phase of Stadium Point will include site development and 357 multifamily units followed by a 220-room, full-service hotel in the second phase.

Following phases will comprise 645,000 square feet of office space across two buildings with 30,000-square-foot floor plates, 65,000 square feet of retail space and a 28,000-square-foot food hall.

CBRE Group Inc. is marketing the office for leasing, according to the project website.

If Steinhauer Properties is able to secure pre-leases for office during the development of the initial phases they could also start construction on the first office building.
Quote:
Close to Stadium Point, construction is also underway on a $20 million project that will feature a Postino WineCafe and two Fox Restaurant brands, including North Italia and Blanco — all of which are new to the West Valley and being developed by Common Bond Development Group.

The city previously said the Stadium Point project was expected to see about $40 million in both public and private infrastructure costs. The site is currently used for parking.

The city released a request for proposals seeking a master developer for the 17-acre site in 2019 and selected Steinhauer in 2020 after receiving three proposals.

Sorta like In N Out, Bucee's is famous for paying its employees really well and it translates to an excellent customer service experience. Pretty cool that they're coming here and I hope they open more.

120 pumps and 74,000 square feet? I hang out on /r/fuckcars but that's just so overkill it's hilarious. I'll have to stop by next time I'm driving in.

If Glendale can't build the parking garage for VAI Resort because the Cardinals/ NFL rejects that plan then where will people park trying to visit the resort?

I'm guessing they want them to park at the Cards stadium, and pay to do so.

I can’t imagine this going over so well with resort guests having such a long walking distance between their cars and the resort, I would imagine their would be shuttles but still and not to mention not having any covered parking to deal with our brutal summers.
