1/0, a coworker doesn't like their donuts. I put it in the lunch room for someone else because I don't like their donuts either.

I recommend the mini chicken fingers meal though, it comes with crayons!

(oh, and I don't know if it's still true, but they used to allow any reward won to be swapped for a coffee - which makes sense as it's probably the one thing that costs them the least to give away. If that's still the case, your coworker gave away a free coffee without knowing...)

I suppose if you win a Toyota Camry and prefer a coffee instead, they won't argue

The coffee sucks too.

It was still sitting on top of the water cooler when I left at 5:30 so I'm sure someone will take it.

I don't disagree, but the person who won the "donut" that can likely be swapped for a coffee..... bought and drank that coffee.

I agree it's logical for _you_ to refuse a free donut (as their donuts suck) or a free coffee (as their coffee sucks), but my point was that the original cupowner should have been interested in a free coffee even if they don't like the donuts.

He probably doesn't know. I'll mention it to him tomorrow if I remember.

I don't know why my coworkers even go to Tim Hortons because we have Folger's Black Silk for free at work.

No Rimmie's for weeks now. And only usually once a week, just while my kids munch on one of their frozen reconstituted hockey pucks.

Does anyone have Rim's coffee straight up without anything in it?

I never bought a Rimmy's coffee...I might try that some time. I'm not a big fan of coffee, I rarely drink it as is...but black is my most preferred kind...so I'm curious how...uninspired it'll be.

Important note: I'm not a coffee connoisseur, I drink maybe 3 or 4 cups a week.

I drink my coffee black, and as I said a page or two ago, I am pretty sure they do something to make the coffee taste sweeter. Now, I've only had Tim's black coffee 2 or 3 times ever, and McDonald's black about a dozen times ever (I get free coffee at work so I never actually buy the stuff) but there is a definite difference between Tim's black and McDonald's black, and Tim's is sweeter by default. (The only time I ever bought coffee is when I first got the Folger's black silk a few months ago while looking for a coffee that tastes more like my preference, which I explain below.)

In both cases, it's quite a bit more sour than I'm used to. Fast food restaurants use reverse osmosis filtration for the water in their facilities for consistent quality (Thunder Bay's tap water is very different than Toronto's; to ensure your drink tastes the same nation-wide, you need to take out all the stuff that affects the taste of water to ensure they've all got the same starting point. There are other issues with municipal water sources that affect finished products that we won't get into.) At my work, we make bottled water, both spring water and reverse osmosis. We usually use the spring water to make coffee, and it tastes like how coffee beans smell. Use the reverse osmosis, however, and it turns out sour. So I think some aspect of Tim Horton's filtration system, or some aspect of the grounds they're using, has something added to try to counter the sourness that comes out when you make coffee with demineralized water. You can try it yourself; make coffee with Dasani (an RO water) one day, and Nestle Pure Life (a mineral water) the next. There will be a taste difference. And I am pretty sure that's where it's coming from. To those of you who almost always get coffee from fast food places, you won't notice it too much; the coffee you get will probably always have that sick/sweet/sour taste. But I drank the spring water coffee at work for years before I tried Tim Horton's coffee, black, for the first time a couple years ago, and I found it absolutely disgusting by comparison, and that's my theory as to why it is.

I've never actually bought Tim Horton's coffee beans or k-cups so I can't say if it's consistent across mediums or if the water really is the case. The company that supplies our coffee doesn't carry Tim Horton's branded stuff.

Now, my favourite coffee remains to this day the stuff that's left over about an hour after you brew a pot of the stuff, when a lot of the water has evaporated and the coffee flavour is a lot stronger and more of a burnt taste. It's bitter, not sour, and I prefer bitter over sour. I want my coffee to tastes like roasted coffee grounds, not piss filtered through burnt toast.

I'm allergic to coffee, and I don't really care for doughnuts (although Robin's quality of doughnuts are far superior) so I rarely have the need or desire to go to Timmy's.

Woe is me.

Sometimes. I only drink my coffee black. The dark roast is reasonable and the regular is tolerable. It certainly isn't great coffee, but I am not a coffee snob. I drink instant a lot of times too. My favourite is definitely the weekend brew at home, but I'm too lazy for that during the week. 7-11 is the best convenient coffee for me.

Lonely feeling deep inside
Find a corner where I can hide
Silent footsteps crowding me
Sudden darkness but I can see
No sugar tonight in my coffee
No sugar tonight in my tea
No sugar to stand beside me
No sugar to run with me
In the silence of her mind
Quiet movements where I can find
Grabbing for me with her eyes
Now I'm falling from her skies
No sugar tonight in my coffee
No sugar tonight in my tea
No sugar to stand beside me
No sugar to run with me

Isn't Tim Hortons itself, settling for it?
