Not only is this new building a dog's breakfast of jenga boxes that form a completely incoherent podium, but it's set back from the unusual angle of Carlton, forming a useless sliver of a plaza and ruining what was once a terrific view terminus from the west.

Hey everyone, I made a quick mockup of montreal's future skyline, circa 2021, including Vslp, BNC, Maestria, YUL3, 1000 DLM and Solstice. Thought this might be interesting to those of you as impatient as I am!

This might be the push to move the business core gravity a little further west. Although you could argue it is also being pulled further south, by all the new office towers in Southcore.

Yeah, but making buildings with non-45° angles is harddd.

If it's any consolation at least, this one was picked apart pretty thoroughly by the DRP.

Yorkville is starting to get that Manhattan vibe. Obviously a lot more and much taller buildings are required. But its a start to hopefully making the north end of town more interesting with a greater critical mass of people.

I get his point, but yea, you'd need more than that, like a reason.

Still, the Missingsausage is a rather unsightly place. Even with this private investment, I don't see it improving much, except in the "downtown". Maybe if the economy ever strengthens in that city we'll see some strides taken for the city as a whole. Heck, the streetcar should make things a bit better as well.....(continue on, I'm sidetracking the thread)

Mississauga is downright hostile to foot travel. What a depressing kilometre long stretch the Pemberton towers create in Erin Mills Centre.

The downtown developments are much improved however, the scale of everything from built form to landscaping to sidewalk widths, etc. is out of whack for providing visual appeal for those on leisurely stroll opposed to driving speed. Honking big podium blocks are being built everywhere. In modern Mississauga, they represent the peak of urbanity. On the flip side, MCC is downright Manhattanesque compared to Laval.
