QUOTE=AJW;7066089]No, people make the city, skyscrapers decorate it.[/QUOTE]
[ I guess we might just disagree on that. The way I see it is this website is called Skyscraperpage and that should mean something particular.
Don't get me wrong I like people and murals and formula one cars, a lot actually. However there are several even many image hosting websites that have a wide range of subjects and people pictures that are increasingly often tagged to help us navigate to what we want to look at with our time. Above are admittedly some really great shots but I count just about ten percent of it as having skyscrapers.
Links to other sites are useful tools for us to use if we want to share, or look at all or some of our other types of photography subjects. IMO streetscapes with people ARE an appropriate theme here because of it's intrinsic urbanism which goes hand in hand with skyscrapers and skylines even construction photos. But once you start getting into flowers and novel fancy cut apple slices etc., (just for example) there is no end to it. All I am saying is try to be respectful to the name of the site and our time and at least give us a healthy amount of skyscraper or at least dwelling and built-up environment shots.
Perhaps it is also a matter of parsing the thread titles in a more precise way? By the way most of the time I am very impressed with the content here but I do think we should be mindful of where we are and that post was just a friendly reminder of that.
. So let us not turn this
into that
Btw I think outdoor wall murals in cities and towns are entirely appropriate on this site and I plan to post some various photos of my own (of skylines etc.) as soon as I can find the time, which I hope is real soon.
I am fairly new here and would like to also contribute with pictures from time to time. In the meantime, and as always, I try to keep in mind that lyric from "The Lego Movie":"Everything is awesome".
