Walgreens serves an important role in the strip. It provides a place for tourists to buy all of those random knick-knacks and miscellaneous items they need.

Does Caesars actually own the land under the power lines? Usually this is an easement owned by the utility company. Here in SoCal the power company will lease the land under the lines to self-storage joints, RV storage, or small plant nurseries but retains ownership. It would be nice to see some landscaping go into that space though.

Walgreens is a life saver on the strip. Have never bought any knick knacks, but lots of water, lots of juice/red bull/mix for drinks to go with the liquor i buy at duty free on the way down, and lots of snacks. Sometimes when you dont feel like constantly being on the go, its nice to have snacks, drink mix and water in the room. I have easily pumped more money into walgreens than I ever have into slot machines in Vegas Second to last time i was down there was staying at Venetien, and thought I'd have to hike up to the walgreens by the Riviera...was pretty pumped to find the new one at Palazzo!

They should just bite the bullet and put a Walmart on the Strip. At least this seemingly valuble piece of land is getting used.

Was that pic of the cosmo sign taken at the Yesco factory? I took a tour of that place a couple of years ago. Pretty cool.

I found this awesome thread over at skyscrapercity. Its really great for those non-locals who want to see what western Las Vegas looks like. This is around the summerlin area.

I don't know why but the PH Tower Westgate beacon I think is awesome and adds greatly to the night scene. I guess it won me over for what it is, it's very catchy, powerful, prominent, and colorful.

Regarding the Marquee, is that the Marriot Marquee that is to be 670 feet/58 floors that is planned near the convention center if I'm not mistaken? If someone could clear that up for me that would be great. Thanks in advance...

Changes at the Tropicana

Stayed at the Tropicana this weekend, and overall the changes they are making are great. Will be nice to see the finish outcome. Lots of "test" areas redone.

The PH sign is bright but i dont like how it is both Red and Yellow. Just take the westgate part off. It reminds me of those bright signs on towers in Hong Kong than Vegas.

I was talking about the Cosmo's Marquee sign, at the roof line they have selectively removed some of the glass crown panels in the areas where the sign is probably going (north, west and south faces) so I wonder if they will put the letters up.

Side note the powerlines at Caesers and Flamingo are gone, poles and all. Maybe someday they can finally demolish Bills Gambling hall and put something nicer there.

Tropicana, are they going to be renovating the exterior of the towers as well? I would have expected a tear down of the complex in all honesty, I guess I was surprised to see them working on it at all.

Looks like another arena project is gaining steam (esp if they need "0" tax money)... This time on the Blvd between the Sahara and Fountainblue (sp?).

Love the 360 degree video screen on the ceiling!!!

This will put Fontainebleau right in the front row! If this arena gets built you can guarantee that Fontainebleau will be the first hotel/resort to benefit in Las Vegas since it is so big and that it is the closest to where the arena will be built. I sure hope construction resumes sooner than later in result of the push for the new arena...
