I'm sure one of us would be able to push you around. Unfortunately I won't be able to make either nights. My gf is flying to Toronto on the 8th and not back until the following week. I will be taking care of the kids all by myself those evenings. Take pics please.

I just realized what I wrote sounded more harsh than intended. Haha. Looks like you knew what I meant.

Great - sounds like the 10th works for most people.

Can everyone interested in the 10th send me a private message with your real name and email address? I'll then ensure you're registered and coordinate the final details.

Thanks!

How was the turn-out for the tour? Did anyone get any interior pictures?

I've been slow this weekend. The tour was great, thanks to NS Power and Aaron for setting it up! There were seven of us total. The inside is really quite nice and very bright. There aren't any office or cubicles right on the exterior glass walls, so most of the pathways are along the edge, so everyone there gets to take advantage of the great views. They left the cut outs of the the old chimney's in the main atrium and used them as skylights which was a cool feature. I didn't grab too many pictures, which I now regret, but below are the few I did.

The interior atrium:

View from the third floor (I wouldn't get any work done):

This is the old turbine room, which became the Electopolis sound stage and what will become the new Discovery Centre. I thought this was a really cool room, the photo's really don't do it justice, it is a huge space.

Thank you for posting the pictures kph06. It will be interesting to see the old Electropolis sound stage converted into the Discovery Centre. When do you think the conversion will begin? I think it is supposed to open in 2013, so I am guessing that work might have to begin this year.

Thanks for the photos, this is a very cool building. You might want to consider posting some of these in the Canada threads.

The Seaport area is starting to look great, it would be nice if the parking lots were built up though. Even a few one-or-two story rows with underground parking would make the area feel a lot more complete.

Thanks for the photos. The interior looks great, and the metal structure is interesting. I love seeing conversions instead of demolition.

Looking south and north, that whole area feels like it's about 60% of a real neighbourhood. Lots of progress but it's still not quite there yet. The Cunard redevelopment will help.

Once the towers on Barrington go up, along with the Nova Centre, I'll definitely seek out this angle for some picture taking

Nice photos. The views from the south look really interesting and they'll be even better when the Cunard development goes in.

The east facade of the NSP building looks kind of plain to me but it's still a bit improvement over what it used to be. I hope something happens with the parking lot soon. Parking lots like that create a disconnect between the neighbourhood around Hollis Street and the waterfront.

Saw this in the Coast:

Studio 21's moving and shaking

Studio 21 was set up in a part of the building that hasn't been redeveloped yet, and I think they were the last tenant, so maybe the rest of the renovations (for the Discovery Centre, etc) will start soon. Hopefully the area fronting Lower Water gets some public art and/or landscaping.

I am anxious for the Discovery Ctr to move as well as then the old site can be redeveloped! I don't know lease-wise, what is the expiry date on the existing Discovery Ctr. site tenants. This may hold up any redevelopment there.
