This is probably the fastest-rising supertall in New York right now

Visited NYC for a week back in July. This was one of the most impressive towers I saw, and it's not even topped out yet! Looks like a 21st century building inspired by the towers of the 30s and 40s.

However, I do think it's a little strange that a 1400ft building could only have 58 floors. Even with a large spire, the roof heights seem very tall. Over in Austin, our tallest building also has 58 floors - but it's not even half the height of One Vanderbilt! Must be great for the tenants.

I am impressed with how well articulated the mechanical floors have turned out. They appear to not be a distraction and flow with the tower section well. It looks like they incorporated vertical glass "wings" which look real cool and continue the building right through the floors. I barely noticed the corner not being angled with the building. Too bad they weren't able to accomplish that as well. Overall the mechanical floors are well done!

The number of pieces of metal in the crown in incredible. Lots of smaller pieces and yet it is rising pretty fast. Exciting to watch from afar.

Thanks NYguy for the Great Photos...keep um coming!

That last shot is so fitting, the mood/environmental scenery for 111 W 57th. Has that ominous, evil look to it. Beautifully wicked of course, but suited for an evil villain.

A storms ah comin!

Ha, agreed. Whatever future superhero movie takes place in Gotham, the villain better live in that building.
