wow -- so both 50 hy and the spiral across the street are really visually up out of the ground and moving well along at this point.

despite the hoopla of the grand opening of the eastern rail yard section, now people will not be able help taking notice that hy developments are far from over.

Don't use crown for this thing, not even in quotes. It's an insult to towers with real crowns. This is just a ROOF.

It's a crown. You may not [i]like[i] that crown, but crown it is.

It will rise in three stacked sections, and their set backs will create space for outdoor terraces. Glassy squares on the facade are framed by white stone cladding, and the designers have reference a “halo” at the crown.

Accentuating the verticality of the building on the north and south façades, the upright structural elements are also clad in white stone. The building’s peak will be capped by a “halo,” adding a new glow to the New York City skyline when lit at night.
A crown that will be lit at night.

Facebook in talks for major Hudson Yards office

Quote:
Facebook is negotiating to take 1 million square feet or more in Hudson Yards in a deal that would firmly establish the city's fast-growing technology sector in the emerging West Side neighborhood.

The $540 billion company is in talks to take the space at 50 Hudson Yards, a nearly $4 billion, 1,000-foot-tall office spire being developed by a partnership between The Related Cos. and Oxford Properties Group.

The deal with the social media giant is so close, several sources said, that Related decided in the past day to push aside another large leasing transaction it had been considering at the tower with major law firm Debevoise & Plimpton.

Facebook spokesman, Anthony Harrison, declined to confirm the deal in the making, stating that “we constantly reevaluate our facilities needs, and we don’t have anything new to share about our plans in New York at this time."

Debevoise had been arranging to take about 450,000 square feet at the 3 million-square-foot property on floors that Facebook is now close to leasing.

Suddenly cast back into the leasing market, Debevoise is considering space at a neighboring office building being raised by developer Tishman Speyer. Called the Spiral, that tower features a corkscrewing series of exterior terraces meant to evoke the nearby High Line elevated park.

Debevoise is also looking at space at 2 Manhattan West—another Hudson Yards tower being built—as well as 3 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan and 4 Times Square in Midtown, a source said.

A spokesman from Debevoise declined to comment.

The deal would give the tech sector a major presence at Hudson Yards. Until now, demand in the neighborhood has been driven by more traditional city industries, including finance, legal, media, fashion and pharmaceuticals.

Amazon, which already has space at Hudson Yards building 5 Manhattan West, is considering expanding its footprint in the neighborhood and is rumored to be looking at space at 2 Manhattan West, which is being developed by Brookfield Properties on a bet it can capitalize on the strong leasing activity in the neighborhood.

What a Time to be alive, am I Right?! YoU gotta love it when a Major develoPer can "push aside" a 450k sq foot deal for an even larger deal. This economy is off the charts! 4.1% GDP.

Yeah, when these large deals are made, it's good news for the other towers seeking tenants. As the Hudson Yards towers continue to fill up, it brightens the chances for other towers to move forward.
