Man.....this thing really needs some work. At least there's not a hell of a lot of spandrel.....just poor colour/ design choices.

This took nearly a decade to get off the ground. It felt like it was always going to be budget engineered. I mean, it's built for what's effectively a neighborhood organization - and in that regard it's a pretty impressive. I guess, I'm not surprised - those initial renderings we're always full of shit.

I'd give it a 5/10. Decent infill. It's just incredibly budget-engineered.

This is a reported $76 million dollar 21-story building. I guess they bought what they could with the grant money and other funding. I believe they worked hard to secured the full funding and this is no small feat as it was a protracted process. Also, this is the first new construction highrise in Chinatown, so kudos to the people who worked on it and the people who financially supported it to make it happen. The comment about the reflection of the Chinese industry has no bearing on the design or construction of this building and is a reflexive smear. Plenty of value engineer building in this town (e.g., PMC building next to CTC). So, leave the derogatory comments out!

I apologize, I have redacted my comment should anyone be offended.

Sunday. This one is pretty bad but it's better that it's there than not.

Been watching some documentaries on old East Berlin. This would fit right in.

Crane coming down. Colors are interesting. But when you approach from the East I like the way this building plays off of this building on 11th and Vine.

That's a point well taken. Dranoff went on and on about how One Riverside was such a, expensive and cutting edge design but it's fundamentally not much different from this clunker. I'm sure the finishes of the interior are night and day of course.

It sure seems like Philly has put itself back on the radar as a great city. That's not to say that it was ever "off" the list but it was somewhat forgotten in many ways (overshadowed by the phenomenal growth in the western US and other, smaller centers across the country) for a few decades. It's certainly come roaring back.
