Interesting none-the-less.

I'm getting confused, weren't there two data centers? One large one adjacent to the new Marriott Marquis hotel and then the other one by the OTHER smaller hotel, just west of there? Per what is indicated on page 75, brian_b, I presume the data center by the smaller hotel is the one that was cancelled, correct? And if so, the OTHER data center next to the Marriott is still active? So confuse.

Yes, supposedly. However the Marriott-adjacent data center was supposed to start construction before the Marriott Marquis, according to my memory of community meetings that I attended. This Marriott-adjacent data center site still needs additional demolition as there is still a large concrete pad sticking up 3 or 4 feet out of the ground. It appears that nothing has happened there in quite a long time.

I'm confused as well, although not over the two different data centers (as far as I know, we've just been talking about the McHugh one here. That presentation (thanks for posting link, brian) is from February. As LVDW has been giving some updates over the last several weeks, it sounded like his source(s) were indicating this is something that happened (data center tenant pulling out) very recently (maybe last month or so?).......so, is this something that has actually happened twice to McHugh this year - with two different tenants backing out? At any rate, I'm mostly concerned that the hotel and retail move forward this year/early next regardless of what's going on with the data center component.....the presentation indicated that was the case, but then again, it's from February.......

^ Yeah, as LVDW previously mentioned, this will have an outsized skyline impact...........at (I think) 440', it will be quite a bit taller than Astoria tower, and even that (do I have the address right here?) 41 E. Eighth tower, I think........

Speaking of 1001 S State, does anybody have a 'read' on the glass yet? Have to get over there and take a closer look myself soon......

^ Yeah...lol.

Honestly, I kinda like that darker paint, shown in the sample area around those windows - it makes the entire west elevation disappear......I just wish it didn't have to be painted in the first place; It's such a schizophrenic building design.

Bad news about one of the two anchors for 151 N. Franklin:

August 27, 2015
Law firm backs out of Buck office development
By Ryan Ori

http://www.chicagobusiness.com/reale...office-project

Article states that JBC is still moving forward as planned, but without Freeborn & Peters.

I'm digging the paint color too. I've always liked a big black concrete building.
