Question Are there any skyscapers that could survive an earthquake like the one that hit haiti

As you are all aware Haiti has experienced a catastrophic earthquake.

According to this shake-map on the usgs website. Peak acceleration values were between 65% and 124% (of 1g) as denoted by the red coloring that marks the bull's eye over Port-au-prince.

My question is. Are there any skyscrapers or high-rise buildings that can survive an earthquake that produces lateral accelerations that approach or even exceed 1g.

If the answer to the first question is no. My second question would be is it feasible to design such a building with existing technology.

I would assume that every skyscraper built in an earthquake zone would certainly be able to handle that and quite a bit more.

In fact, I would think that some of these skyscrapers would be the safest place to be in an earthquake.

I believe this one would fare quite well, or as well as can expected in the given circumstance.

By virtue of the fact that it was a magnitude 7, and there have been plenty of earthquakes more powerful, I would assume yes.
