They are both planned to start rising next year, along with the Nordstrom tower. Together they will help offset the horrors of that design.

Yes, thank you NYGuy. Honestly, the top looks funky. Fine, but funky. not soaring like the original.

Yeah lol, only this great news can ease our pain about the Nordtrom debacle. Although shorter than most of the newcomers, Tower Verre is till my favourite. It will be a delight to watch it rise.

Awesome. I don't like how the shape changed, I don't like the reduced height but I do love how it's black at the tip top of the building. I hope it really looks like that first rendering NY Guy posted with the news article.

Looks like they could have added more space at the top, but with these renderings and so little detail, its hard to say.

I actually like the new crown better, it gives the tower something I think the first design lacked, which is a more pronounced crown. I'm still upset over the height reduction, but the design is so bas ass, i might get over it.

Has it officially lost its Tower Verre name? A real beauty this one

Initially dubbed Tower Verre by Mr. Nouvel's office, the Hines building is the latest entrant into Manhattan's luxury condo sweepstakes.

Tower Verre was proposed mid 2007 and will most likely start rising by mid 2014. 7 years of waiting, man the time flies ...

Wasn't this mostly clear/transparent glass with light brown beams? Now it looks depressing.

Keep in mind that it was disclosed a while ago that this tower wouldn't have risen back then anyway because the sale of the air rights was put off for a few years. I think we are right in the area of when that was supposed to take place. But in either case, better to have the thing financed and ready to go than just on the drawing board and waiting for another few years.

The renderings are the same color.

I think that's probably what happened, they bumped out a few of the top floors to maximize space. A small price to pay for a grand tower. Wonderful news for sure, it'll be a classic in the skyline! No box-city here! 2014 is going to be even more exciting for NYC than 2013 was with 432 Park, 56 Leonard, 30 Park Place, Tower Verre, 3WTC, and Hudson Yards.

I find it funny how the majority of luxury supertall renderings don't include their counterparts! It will only be until these towers rise when people see the scope of their density!

Finally. Finally. Finally. Even with the 57th St's other monsters rising, this is still going to be the star of the show for me. This building is just magnificent.

Great to see everybody so happy. I dont think I'm the only one who has looked at this project as a dream too good to be true. For seven years it was just that, a dream. Today was the biggest hurdle to this becoming reality!

Group hug!

The cross bracing has changed too. You can say it underwent some value engineering. Still better than all other towers but just not as stunning as the original design.

Thank you NIMBY's and Amanda Burden, you dumb biotches!
