Although to be fair, the DeStefano building already there actually fronts the podium with active residential spaces. They deserve bonus points for that
I'm not sure that's worthy of "bonus points". Just a happy accident.

The developer and the development scheme changed halfway through, and they were stuck with a parking garage that was bigger than they needed. By chance, part of the garage had level floorplates that could be converted to residential units.

If they had built from the ground-up, I imagine there would have been a shorter podium filled with parking, with no liner units.

^Interesting that the floor to floor heights were tall enough to facilitate condominiums. Many garages have bottom of structure clearances that would be far to low for occupied space.

I suppose "waste" was the wrong word to use. I think me being "impatient" would be better said. haha. I love the new unique color going on with the the two Optima's, along with the modern Lowes, Gleacher and 465 park. I just wish you guy's could see the model render I saw of those two mirroring towers aside nbc. I love the oldschool art deco look with the thin windows and the yellow light shooting up the side of the building. I think two more towers of that kind would adapt nicely in that area. Good old/new school mixture.

This thing is climbing fast. Can anybody, if you got free time, do a side/side comparison of a drawing and this last picture^^ to show what the final result will look like? I forgot who did the computer work of riverpoint when it was half way. But it looked really sharp.

Nice shot Solar. Nbc will always be one of my favorites. Art deco will never die.

I flew to Chicago to see family and take part in the Chicago Open House. The 2nd picture was taken from the 32nd floor balcony at Optima Phase 1. The third was taken from a unit on the 32nd floor facing opposite of the balcony. They were taken with a cell phone, so excuse the quality.

That red juxtaposed with the black base on Optima 1 is simply stunning
