Love the plans for under the Gardiner! Very cool!

Looks like Calgary will be getting our first luminescent bike paths as part of the massive redevelopment of West Eau Claire Park. Per Councillor Druh Farrell...

I don't want to see Yonge become another standard Tokyo or Shanghai style glass menagerie with the character of a cockroach.

At the same time he is right about what a mess Yonge is. It's sidewalk are dangerously thin and look like crap and it is the only main street in the whole damn city where you can't even have a coffee on a patio.

Pedestrianize the entire section from Union to Rosedale.

Saw this on my newsfeed today, looks like an older article.

Downtown Toronto Population to Double by 2041

Quote:
The population of downtown Toronto will almost double over the next 25 years as a building boom and baby boom bring more and more people to the area, Chief Planner Jennifer Keesmaat says.
The current population of the city’s core is believed to be about 250,000, however new data from the City of Toronto estimates that about 475,000 people will call the area home by 2041.
The anticipated increase is linked to continued development in the downtown as well as higher birth rates.

I wonder how they defined "downtown" for that report?

Probably Liberty Village (Dufferin) to Distillery District (Don Valley) north to Bloor Street.
