To carry on this tangent - apparently the below was posted to Wikipedia for a while at the beginning of the week:

And since wiki lets you see edit history, here's the text. I couldn't find that image in the history, but I may not be looking for it correctly.

"The tallest building in the city is the 108-story Foles Tower (formerly the Willis/Sears Tower), which rises 1,451 feet (442 m) in the Chicago Loop and was completed in 1974.[2][3]"

That’s what 1487 - err Cardeza and I were talking about...Broad and Arch - near convention center. It’s a privately run building with a mentally disturbed facility in the ground floor...next to the McDonalds. Don’t be so cynical about convention centers either.

Could this potentially be the return of the long-delayed Dilworth House Tower?

Interesting that the article thinks it's Scannapieco. I think he could really put something cool here. As interesting as this building's story is, I could care less about whether or not the entire building is preserved or not.

This is the long-dormant project I posted about a couple of weeks ago

Very very interesting. My initial two thoughts:

1. Can't wait to see what this looks like, assuming they're going with the partial demo. Incorporating old buildings into new ones can be hit or miss. The St. James and the Pearl Properties overbuild at 16th and Walnut are two good recent examples.

2. Scannapieco is an interesting name. On one hand, didn't he recently purchase a few properties by the Ritz on Walnut? On the other hand, Wash Square is the superior location and it's not everyday such a well located property becomes available (if it even is). Although he will be limited to a small "boutique" building, it might be perfect given today's market conditions. He can always come back to the Walnut Street property when market conditions improve.

There is a rumor that Scannapieco is in and Bucini Pollin out at the Sheraton (or at least a joint venture) and that Scannapieco will be doing a tower there rather than developing the Ritz parcel. There is a public meeting this week on the Sheraton project that may provide some additional detail. I do think Dilworth House would do well with a Scannapieco project, though.

I believe that the dilworth house is still under the historical commission's purview and the owners were only authorized to remove portions of the building, not the main chunk of it. If I remember correctly, that is. So I guess they would use the house as a weird lobby area?

A new Washington Square high-rise? Philly developer tries again to build condo tower over Dilworth House

The Inquirer story above says 12 stories, 172 feet. Looks like we might get a new thread!

I'll make a thread when we have a rendering.

This cartoonist rendering was in the above inquirer article. But I’m assuming we want a more polished one.

We've had threads with just a drawing before. This will do. I will update the thread once we have something more concrete, however.
