I visited an old friend of mine back in June. He lives in Deventer nowadays, a picturesque city in the east of the Netherlands. We drank beer and walked around with him showing me some of the sights. We ended up drinking on the terrace on the city's central square, the brink, home to the annual funfair ('biggest funfair in the eastern Netherlands!'). I had my camera with me, and here are the results.
As for Deventer. I don't know much about its history, but its an medieval city, unharmed by WWII. It is the home of nearly 100.000 inhabitants and a large ethnic Turkish population, earning it the nickname Little Ankara on the banks of river IJssel.
Here's a cool map from 1652 I found on Wikipedia:
Surely worth a visit if you can find the time. My pictures don't do Deventer justice, not enough anyway, as I only offer a very limited view. As for music...a funfair is like a neon forest right? Iggy Pop and Slash rocking it back in the Nineties! Love this song, I hope you do too.

'And then there was you'
'Who forbade you to collect rainbows?'
Thanks for watching!
