I think those round blue things in Imre's photo's are forms for the columns in the next set of setbacks above.

Put there because it can be easily be lifted straight up by crane......maybe!!!

Jan 13 '06

Thanx Slugbelch But your internet skills are the best man. And I would really hope for a bunch of inside shots during construction - or all the early earthworks / piling work ( only have around a dozen early shots ) - if this was in North America ...... Still can't complain - almost like being there - 1580 pics so far
Structure of a lifetime !

Hey....what a team!

It's really nice to see some refreshing older shots, haven't seen any of the ones you've posted today before.

Keep up the good work.

Over at SSC they are now saying that the 6th November was miss quoted from November '06......meaning the month of November 2006....not the 6th day of November.

I just hope it's soon......so we can play with photo's in photoshop to give people a real idea of what it will look like finished!

Trawling through Google I've come accross an official quote from Abdullah M Bin Lahej, Director of construction for EMAAR properties from 16th April.

I've never seen it before and I appologise if its old hat, but it's a quote (or miss-quote) about the BD Tower reaching 200 floors in height.

Construction today reached level 85 @ 300.65m tall.

Now officially a 'supertall' and currently the 35th tallest building in the world....and the 4th tallest in Dubai.

There are also currently only 9 buildings in the world that have more than 85 floors.

This building is having big bites out of the record books......and it's gonna keep on munchin'

Is that just an estimate or there is an official or semi official confirmation on that? I mean both for the 85th floor and the 300m height.
