You think they’re looking for tenants with specific traits, such as those that don’t serve alcohol?

I just thought of something...
Maybe the plan was always to use the same materials throughout the building and it's trims, and then they paint it white?
I'm not sure if it's possible with the materials used. Just a thought.

You mean the exterior? It's clearly a callback to older forms of architecture, which had those colors on the exterior. Plus, the beige looks much better than white would.

No, I meant the trims surrounding the windows, balconies, etc. Look at the renderings. They're white.

I see. The white around the windows looks good, but I don't know if we should expect that to actually happen.

If I do say so myself, this looks better in real life than in renderings.

I'm not in love with the Mormon Church, but I'd be okay if they bought a few more city blocks and transformed them in this manner.

This has turned out spectacularly well.

^ I used to live in Utah and was just in Salt Lake a week ago. They do development and maintenance very well, whatever else you may think of them (definitely not my theological cup of tea).

I wouldn't mind seeing them buy that Realen parking garage kitty-corner across Vine and develop that underutilized block.

Hmm PennDOT really needs to look at reconfiguring the 1501 block of Vine tho methinks. A slight change in configuration would net major development sites on either side of that slip, which they can then sell off.

Agreed. A while back I was thinking about this, and given the grade change, I think you could actually develop around and over much of the existing ramps. The connection to the local streets at grade is the trickiest part, but I'd think you could get a substantial development anchored on Vine Street at least.

That's actually a very good question. It will be interesting to see how the LDS Church sorts that one out. I would like to see Los Angeles re-skin half their 60's non descripts to look more like this.

Had a great meal at Urban Farmer, then some drinks upstairs at the Assembly Rooftop bar/lounge. Here are some photos I took from the lounge area:

Nice pics, even the ones without the Alexander. That last pic almost makes it look like there's already occupants in the building.

My thought is to have the slip end on Callowhill but make its 1500 block two-way, probably widening it along that stretch. That would yield two large development sites in a high-density neighborhood with three street faces (Vine, # street, Callowhill) and a backside along the slip ramp.

I just heard that the date for move in's is Feb. next year, but tours, I guess of model apartments, will start next month. No floor plans or prices yet.
The end is within sight. Wouldn't be nice if these guys started a similar project in the same area.

Everything north of Cherry needs more Art Deco towers like this one, since they never got any to begin with.
(With the exception of the Inky).
