Read that Brandon has apply to host the 2017 Canada Summer Games.
Brandon has hosted the games twice: 1979 Winter Games ,and 1997 Summer Games
Manitoba has already been awarded the 2017 games.
So far Brandon is the only city that has shown an interest in the games.

I could see them hosting an event like that. How many people descending upon the games?

Anyone know of any cool projects coming down the pipeline for Brandon? I hear the town is booming so something must be coming up? Hopefully a new office building?!

Just gets a 30-floor tower when Winnipegs been begging for one since 1990.

I wish we had SSP members in Brandon.

Brandon Transit

http://brandontransit.ca/routes-schedules/route-changes

As an expanded urban area, Brandon has increased its population from 39,000 in 2001 to 48,000 in 2016.

More routes, different routings.

I'm happy to see Brandon grow. We need another, competing urban area in our province.

I agree Brandon gets little attention on this sub-forum. We have the Other Manitoba and Saskatchewan Developments thread but it's rarely mentioned. Might be an idea to turn this thread into a Brandon, MB catch-all, for development, construction, transit etc. similar to other sub-forums smaller cities. It may get more traction. Thoughts?

We'd love to talk more about Brandon (well, that's what I'd like to do anyway) but there's nothing to talk about.

It's about skyscraper construction, hence the name of the site. There are no skyscrapers in Brandon but we'd settle for large scale construction, I'm sure. Do we really need to talk about every Mcdonalds that opens in Brandon?

Hadn't noticed until you mentioned it.

Now that you bring it up, what's with the 100's of non-construction related threads doing in this sub-forum alone? Weird hombre.

Anyway, the thread already existed, Threads merged.

Actually there are four McDonald's in Brandon (Trans Canada Highway, Victoria, Richmond and the one inside the Walmart in the Corral Centre)

Fuck...I think I actually got us talking about Mcdonalds construction in Brandon. Not that there's anything wrong with a Big Mac. I just hope they build a 30 storey tower to accompany it. Maybe the ball pit.

But wait! There's more...

The four Cara restaurants (Fionn MacCool's, East Side Mario's, Swiss Chalet and Harvey's) that were announced a year ago are starting construction on various pads in front of the Shoppers Mall shortly:

http://www.westmanjournal.com/news/l...all-1.20278822

Sorry Sprocket, no tall buildings or even a ball pit among them, but this will actually be interesting to see how the restaurant industry in a fairly small place changes with four new chain restaurants being built at the same time. It may be a while before there is a fifth McDonald's.

^ Brandon has an intense love affair with chain restaurants... those places will probably be money machines.
