Point taken, caution is warranted. But because someone hasn't been a developer (C Hotel notwithstanding) does not mean they will not become one.

"For over 30 years, Carmen's Group has been Hamilton's leader in elegant weddings, events, catering, entertainment, and inspired hospitality. This fall, we'll be unveiling an extraordinary new chapter in our companies story. You won't want to miss this"

In the past four decades we have grown from a small bakery into a hospitality company that has built and operates several world class event venues, a nationally recognized boutique hotel, a cozy Italian restaurant, a first-class dinner theatre program, a gourmet food retail outlet and even a celebrity event division that has raised millions of dollars for charity. We are excited to expand our footprint into other realms of hospitality and entertainment with the same passion and commitment to extraordinary hospitality experiences that first motivated us to build a bakery nearly 40 years ago.

That's why, this fall, we'll unveil the next chapter in our company's story. We can't wait to share it with you and we thank you for your support and loyalty over the years.

I hate announcements of announcements. Especially ones that offer dates as loose as "Fall" when we're still in "Spring".

I guess this is good news though, would be nice if it was more specific.

My wife has received an invitation to a Carmen’s event at Carmen’s called “RISE”.
Two quotes from the invitation are:

Quote:
Carmen’s will be opening its doors to the city to showcase the company’s bold new direction and the power of hospitality to transform cities.
Quote:
In addition, we will be making a not-to-be-missed announcement about the future of our company!
I will be going to it with her.

I wonder if it's something to do with the Hamilton Convention Centre.

I hope it's on that parking lot from the former Teachers Board. Something super tall (your newest tallest) and skinny. With potential for a casino. Already two hotels, a convention centre and Jackson Square exist. Maybe one day Yale will start to market the Stelco Tower office space.

You'll then have two nice canyons on King and Main. and a mini canyon on James.

My guess is Yes. Talking to a few people the RockHammer Corp. never went away... they just dug down and Wynne needs as much money as possible.

I also want to add that Niagara isn't worried about a casino in Hamilton, we fear much more a casino in Toronto or another one in Buffalo/NFNY.

A friend who used to talk to to Mercanti told me they were lying low on the casino and were going to bring it back when it was almost ready to go. Also that they had changed plans to the east waterfront (Centennial area) because of the opposition downtown. That was a year or so ago. I trust this friend but Mercanti may have been talking out his ass for all we know.

I'm not opposed to a downtown casino anymore. As long as it's done right. I'd like to see the parking underground and something that integrates well with the surroundings. I don't care how tall it is.

I do think Centennial area would make the most sense though. Easy access for Toronto+Niagara, not difficult for Hamilton folks to drive to (and people with cars should dominant the target demographic), and near the already existing water park it creates a bit of an entertainment zone. Synergy.

it sucks how much we have to cater to people who drive. People should realize public transportation is the way to go and stop hurting the environment. Projects like the Connolly and Tivoli are perfect because the emphasize the use of public transit by adding less parking spaces than units.

With the casino it seems unlikely people would want to hop on the bus and go gambling like that. Plus making it a non-transit friendly casino helps to keep the lowest income folks away.

I hope there is no casino.

Would be a shame to not have a large hotel downtown.
