The Freehand is the single best adaptive reuse in all of downtown.

otherwise it's a bit disappointing to drop by the dtla page, hoping to see something new & exciting.....only to instead see walls of text & merely ppl's opinions on this or that.

so I appreciate your effort.

I try to do my part by at least inserting other ppl's work into this thread.....such as video images taken by a drone which managed to soar quite high about dt......

^ I can never get over the work done to the upper floor of the paul hastings tower....former arco plaza from the 1970s. It's a disgrace what a supposedly professional architect did to the design of one of the original twin towers. Does that person or ppl have eyes in their head?

I'm also struck by how much new devlpt has occurred, but also how much more new devlpt is necessary to give dt a more complete feel & look.

when I think of all the sections in dt that were still gaps not all that long ago, & see them today being filled in.....or already filled in....but notice how many other gaps remain to be fixed up & filled in, I'm reminded all over again just how much improvement was needed throughout dt in the past.

better late than never....better today than before....onward & upward!

USC is selling the naming rights to the LA Memorial Coliseum to United Airlines. I realizing that they’re under pressure for renovation because of the IOC is likely going to award a dual win for both Paris and LA for the 2024 and 2028 Olympics, but this does not sit well with me.

As long as they don't overbook the stadium.

Oceanwide & the 50 story at 8th&Hill (or is it Hope St.?) could use the Metropolis crew also to rise faster.

Those canopies are too gimmicky for my taste. And I really don't see too much of a difference in terms of the hardscape/softscape ratio. Mia Lehrer can do much better.

I think it's appropriate for the area. I like it.
