I just wish those GM concrete spires were done differently. They will forever look incomplete to me, as if they ran out of money necessary to finish a grand design.

I like the spires, but I wish they were made of a different material.

The industrial nature reminds me of our past.

That would help. As is, it looks like they poured fire resistant stairwells but forgot to build the rest of the building.

Not that this invalidates Cold's opinion. Architecture is just another form of art that incorporates a functional component.

The spires nicely frame Capital Blvd and I'm cool with the material. Perhaps something subtle could be done with lighting at the tops.

But what really stands out, is that clock! Whoa.

FWIW, from a student perspective (albeit a few years ago), great complex in which to study.

Views like that make me think of a grad student from Cameroon I once knew. He mentioned how confused he was when he came to Alberta, because he was told that there were no jungles in Canada. His arrival showed him luscious forests creeping right up to the foot of our downtown. He asked me 'Why we thought we didn't have jungles?'. I replied with a question of my own, asking him 'Would he have camped out in the open of the forests back home?'. He laughed and said not a chance in hell as he didn't want to get eaten. I explained how THAT is why we don't think we have jungles.

Damn I love our river valley.
