Closures at Buntzen Lake through November 2011 due to powerhouse maintenance

http://www.bchydro.com/community/rec...tzen_lake.html

Quote:
The Buntzen powerhouse on Indian Arm is undergoing a turbine replacement and will remain out of service until approximately late November, 2010.

With the powerhouse out of service, higher than average reservoir levels will result in the following conditions and closures throughout the summer and fall:

* All sand on the South Beach may be underwater;
* The North Beach and grass area may be closed;
* The boat launch, access road, and turn-around may be closed;
* Sections of the Buntzen Lake Trail may be closed;
* Some docks may be closed

BC Hydro is sorry for any inconvenience this may cause in this popular recreational area. For further information, contact BC Hydro at 1 800 663 1377 or email LMSC.CommunityRelations@bchydro.com.
This article seems to have a different tone - with BC Hydro's spokesperson saying that the boat launch will be closed all summer.

Edit: ah, I accidentally put 2011 in the title.. can a mod change it to 2010 please?

yeah.. there's basically a bunch of trees and park benches under water and the beach is gone. it's gotten close to the trail in some spots but not really too problematic.

Some parts have been underwater for quite some time now. I'm more worried about the floating bridge being impossible to approach...the rest of the shallow sections are easily bypassed even if the water gets a bit higher.
