yeah that 3rd video makes me feel kinda stupid . . .
thank God for smart construction engineers . . .
that turn complicated architects' dreams . . .
(both ugly and beautiful) . . . into reality . . .
I don't know "yield moments" from "outrigger loads" . . .
but I know beautiful buildings when I see them . . .
and they've uplifted lives immeasurably.

Wow - this is going to be iconic. I can remember the 80's and early 90's this area being such a dump. Even walking the new section of the high line or running in the area you can see how much differently this area will look in a few years.

Good lord that is a crazy complicated site!!! I love it! Thanks for the pics guys and the articles. Can't wait to see this go up.

Also a side note. I think it was this thread or the one for the smaller twin here, but I saw photos that showed that the concrete structures covering the tracks had some man-sized walkways through them. I'm sure that is for inspection etc.. My only thought was how cool of another hidden underground area in NYC that will be in years from now, only to be in open air now. NYC has so many of those interesting spaces!

Cheers!!

Hell no, that McDonalds needs to be landmarked! I'm not even kidding, this is America and we damn well need at least one stand alone McDonalds in Manhattan.

Yeah that McDonald's is a charmer. I could see pro development people go full blown NIMBY over that McDonald's.

But it will go away eventually. Land is to valuable to be selling cholesterol burgers with a side of fries.

But I don't want to Jinx it because we all know who will come to the rescue of that place:

May we never forget the battle of Verre which resulted in a victory, but at a terrible cost of 200 feet.

I would recommend this to her:

That McD will last as long as free copies of Magic Mike videos handed out at an SSC convention. Sphincter0000 alone would be hoarding them as if they were gold. In other words, this McD will be gone quickly.
