Here's a petite update, the view from the roof of SoHo Crossing Condominiums. You can see the Financial District to the left of City Beacon and the Wedding District (what I'm working on now) to the right. As you can all probably tell, there's still a lot to be modelled along the river, and, as you can probably tell by now, I don't like to do thorough updates until I finish whole neighbourhoods. But the Wedding District shouldn't take long to finish.

Where is City City located again?

We can add it to the Sketchup City map

I would've matched the font and all, but at this moment all I have is MS Paint.

Centre Green, in the North East Financial District, overlooked by various historic buildings, and soon to be dominated by the future tallest, the Galveston-Michigan Regional Tower, whose site has sat idly since excavation. A shorter, but nonetheless prolific residential project is also slated to rise soon adjacent to the park.

A storm brews over the lake and ominously hangs over the Wedding District.

The storm as it enters the city, from the Wedding District (still unfinished) at street level.

Probably after I design it. You'll probably see the aforementioned condo tower and another condo rise in the meantime.

Your textures are awesome.

Two questions. How do you get the textures to line up so perfectly? I have the problem that when I apply a texture, it lines up where ever it wants. This forces me to sometimes change the exact location of the building so that the walls line up with the texture, as opposed to being able to line the texture up with the walls. Does that make sense?

Second: Why the Wedding District? I like the name, but it kind of perplexes me. Older buildings maybe? With setbacks reminiscent of a wedding cake?

For one, I don't typically use 'textures,' per say, when I import the JPGs I deselect 'use as texture,' and rather than becoming a texture when applied to a surface, they remain a seperate element and stay within their borders, allowing one to adjust the size of the building to fit directly to the edges of the 'texture.'

Named for the 'wedding cake' residential buildings within.

Here's a little peak, just to let you all know I haven't forgotten. In a few hours I'll make a post updating the infill of the Wedding District, the Banking Quarter and Burns Park expansions.
