I was trying to figure this picture out, when I finally realized the checkerboard is a table top by the concession stand....I originally was thinking this was a large scale checkerboard placed on the riverlanding plaza decking! It is cool perspective pic....

Phil Tank: Remai Modern plan seems built on optimistic estimates

by Phil Tank, Saskatoon StarPhoenix
July 22, 2017

As gallery officials prepare for the opening of the Remai Modern Art Gallery of Saskatchewan on Oct. 21, they would do well to take note of a development five hours west.

Edmonton city council in May approved spending $500,000 to offer two nights of free admission a week at the Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) for the next two years.

After a renovation and expansion, the reimagined Edmonton gallery attracted 108,743 visitors in 2010 after reopening. After a successful first year, however, attendance fell to 45,323 in 2015 and 52,648 in 2016.

I haven't looked at the rendering in a while but my one small gripe was the angles on the roof best viewed on the left side of the photo. I felt it took away from the clean straight lines. Now I see that was not intended with the rendering. Beautiful building nonetheless.

Signage was going up on building this morning....by front entrance. Also, three "reflective r's" on top windows facing river. Sorry...no pics.

Very nice building I walked around it after watching some of the river landing project construction going on it is impressive close up and walking along the river bank. When I think back at what that whole area including farmers market looked like, not that long ago, i didn't believe this all would happen. Sure glad it did.
