Those are called tables - more parts were being delivered Friday. These provide the bottom of the floor when the concrete is poured. Build a dozen or so big forms, enough to cover several floors. Place the first set on the top of the building, put on rebar, electrical, post tension cables, and then pour the floor, once it sets enough the next set of tables can be put on and then the process repeats. At NEMAtode the tables are on rollers to make it easier to pull them out.

Great insight Harry as always. More importantly those tables are a sign that this thing is about to shoot upward. For the few forumer's that were wondering if this tower has been taking longer than normal their progress thirst will soon be quenched haha.

That last photo does a great job at showing why the riverboat tours are so successful. An architectural history well preserved and perfectly spaced out across a few miles of river. The diversity on display is just like how Notyrview stated, "eye candy". So wonderful. There is truly nowhere on Earth that has what we have here in Chicago, and I think that's one of the big reasons for how much pride your average Chicagoan has about the city, even if they cannot properly articulate it.

The river canyon, when finished up in the next 10 years, should be seen as one of the world's modern wonders of engineering. I'm biased of course though haha

As many predicted, the pace is picking up quickly. Could be seeing a floor a week very soon!

I love this one going up but its going to suck if we have to wait ten years for the south tower to rise. Its going to be an eyesore to have that empty lot in between two great looking buildings.

Nobody can predict the future but I think there is little reason to worry. Especially the 10 years part.

Unless there is a major downtown in the economy in the next 2-3 years I think the chances are good that we will see the South tower rise within a year after the east tower tops out. Just as the east tower started less than a year after the west tower topped out.

Oh for the days of yore - the green trees, the pristine shore ....

We have to hope that the demand for office space increases. That being said with such a high profile property they might not have a hard time finding an anchor tenant.

Hard to find a more prominent spot to put a company logo than on the top of WP south.

^WPS is easily arguably the most important building site in the history of this city... amazing that it has been left to languish so long...

Today from 333 W. Wacker

Earlier in the day:

Later, as you can see they added a huge chunk with those prebuilt forms. Really cool technique that I've never seen before!

I could see them using a mobile crane to move the forms around on the site earlier. Definitely got a bit distracted from work a few times. Love me some crane action.

How to access the middle section of WPS?

How the crane get into the wolf point south site? Is there an acess road below Franklin?
