The building page is closed for One Light, but we don't have an illustration for the building so I took the liberty to try and make one. Sorry if it's bad! Haha
I just read on Wikipedia that KC just opened up their new light rail line two days ago. The cars look pretty sick. Congrats.
Thank you. I was able to ride it on Friday during the grand opening. Around 30,000 people rode it this weekend. The following is a photo I took this past Saturday.

“Most planning of the past fifteen years has been based upon three destructive fallacies: the cataclysmic insists upon tearing everything down in order to design from an absolutely clean slate; the automotive would plan for the free passage of the automobile at the expense of all other values; the suburban dislikes the city anyway and would just as soon destroy its density and strew it across the countryside.” Vince Scully
Arterra approved and ground breaking planned for the 1st quarter of 2017
Mixed Use Hyatt hotel
This project will be built on the empty lot between the VFW tower and the MGE Apartment tower at 34th and Broadway.
It includes a 9 story Hyatt hotel (95 rooms), a 5 story apartment building (55 units) and a row of 3 story townhomes all with underground parking.
The above project will be directly adjacent to the below project.
In a good day for a proposed convention hotel in downtown Kansas City, its developers say they’ve obtained commitments for a loan and are under contract to purchase land for the project.
According to KC Hotel Developers LLC and City Manager Troy Schulte, during a meeting Monday the developers showed Schulte a term sheet for a $110 million construction loan from an undisclosed lender. A term sheet spells out the conditions upon which a bank will extend credit.
A 13-story, 257-unit apartment complex has earned an important green light for a prominent site at 47th Street and Roanoke Parkway, just west of the Country Club Plaza.
The Kansas City Plan Commission on Tuesday approved the multifamily development plan from property owner Block Real Estate Services LLC.
Looks like this thing is here. 'Bout time they put something there.
Good news on one hand, but what a ugly design and so stubby. KC needs to add some height to its skyline. One KC Place was built when I was growing up.
Supposedly the design is still being tweaked, so look for more changes before construction, but unfortunately the original height is likely gone forever on this project.

Great news on the project moving forward.....but.....that updated design is such a disappointment. I was really looking forward to another tower addition to the skyline. That said, we'll take it!! I hope that by building this, that we'll be able to land more and more high profile conventions. The revenue would be great!!

Agreed, it looks like a hospital right next to an award winning concert hall and future home of the UMKC school of performing arts. They should just rename it they Hyatt Medical Center.
