The closer one is 360 W. Superior, the one in the distance is the Father & Sons redevelopment. Thanks for the shots

According to the article the brick won't be that slick grey/black brick but a brown... hopefully it's still good looking. Changes without new renderings worry me

Another one that's in the works (it wasn't standalone but it was the retail anchor for the small building it was in) is the Walgreens at 300 N Michigan. As I mentioned several weeks back, Sterling Bay and Magellan finally did lodge their PD application with the city for this planned tower.

Sorry, I should have clarified... the Walgreens that were redeveloped were all urban-format stores with very little or no parking, even if the buildings were single-use. This means Walgreens is easily able to relocate to another retail space in a nearby building. In the case of CNA Center, they opened a new store in the Thompson Center right around the time the old one closed.

In the case of CVS at Chicago/Milwaukee, or Walgreens at Halsted/Monroe, I think we'll see redevelopment happen much later - Walgreens will never be able to build a replacement store with the same amount of parking, so they will hang onto those lots as long as humanly possible. The Walgreens at Clark/Ontario should have become a highrise long ago, but they're still sitting on that valuable property.

I'm conflicted on the Pizza Tower. On one hand, it looks nothing like pizza. On the other, it doesn't dissuade me from craving pizza right now.

Yep, this one is very real. A mechanical subcontractor I know has a contract and they're anticipating early 2020 start date, which means the GC will be in the ground well before then.

^ If that timeline is to be realized, this will have to very quickly move through entitlements. As in, Plan Commission approval this summer, full council approval by early fall, and in the ground with caissons by fall as well to be able to have mechanical subcontracting work underway by early 2020.

I think it's a good project and hope it's on this type of fast track.

Link to a short video of the kinetic wall. I was holding an umbrella and didn't do a good job of holding my phone steady.

Would anyone happen to know what's under construction just west of the Mill? Caisson rigs are visible from the Kennedy but I can't recall seeing it mentioned here. It's a McHugh job. Another under-the-radar tower....What a time to be alive!

Immediately to the west? Right at Ogden?
That's 740 N Aberdeen. 12 stories, 188 units.

They just got their foundation permit last week, so they're not wasting any time.
