PS: Where did that render come from? I actually checked the DOB permits for 360 10th last night.
You're right, it does appear further south. I just think whomever made it did not place the tower location correctly. Because of zoning, I'm pretty sure a tower over 1,000' isn't even possible south of 30th street at the high line/ Hudson Yards. I dunno.

It could be something planned on one of those two huge lots on 28th and 28th between 11th and 12th Avenues.

Something big will rise on Manhattan Motor Cars' site one day too,

Even if it were behind 1600' would put it quite a bit above 30 HY. In comparison to that building (which is 1268') it looks about 1375'

Still a signature tower for HY though, maybe that will push the Hudson Spire even higher

Frank McCourt’s MG Properties has brought in Hines as an equity and development partner on 360 10th Avenue, a $3 billion, 733,000-square-foot mixed-use project on the Far West Side. The developer also announced that SHoP Architects will design the project.
I hope that project looks like one of these towers.

The architecture is fantasy. A tower like number 5, of 1400 feet, could be very beauty for New York.

I walked by today and wondered if Hines is trying to buy the adjacent building, 450 W 31st Street. However, as per ACRIS, Sherwood, Hines' predecessor, already bought the development rights.

Here's the relevant entry:

7/19/2013

DEVELOPMENT RIGHTS

450 WEST 31ST OWNERS CORP.

SHERWOOD 30 LAND GROUP LLC

I couldn't open the doc on my phone. I can only see the headings. What development rights were transferred?

The west side needs just one, maybe two buildings with really nice spires. This could be the perfect candidate.

10 and 30 HY have amazing crowns, as do 35 HY and BoA.

I don't see the confusion. The placement (an obvious placeholder) is directly to the east of the Coach Tower.

Still wondering what SHoP will design for this corner of the Hudson Yards/High Line...
