That's a great collection from top to bottom, Harry

Also, the dude in the boat picture looks exactly like a balding Fred Armisen lol

So far, I'm not a huge fan of it, but I do love the wavy effect the facade has. It is a different looking building. I'll give them that.

It'd be nice if they covered the blow through floor with some screen or something

I love the moodiness of Vista's glass. Very different shades and perspective depending on time of day, angle, and cloud cover. Her curves at dusk are also really something to experience in person. Just stunning.

i don't know about that. the 1st caisson was drilled roughly 3 years ago now (sept. 22, 2016).

that seems about right for a 1,200' concrete tower.

I feel that the tall part should have been towards the lake. It would have given the skyline a more imposing view.

Still a cool tower, though.

^^^ That was the original plan. Perhaps they felt it was more important for the terraces to have lake views

For real, the original rendering looks like a peppermint or one of those old people candies.

I like that it builds into the skyline and makes much more sense when viewing from afar

^ 100% agree.

Stepping away from the lake and up into the skyline was absolutely the right call here.

I'm so glad they realized their initial error and made the switch early on.

A good detail on the blow through floor (emphasis added)
Quote:
The floor will be covered by a screenlike perimeter wall that lets Chicago’s famous winds whip right through the space. This so-called blow-through floor, the first of its kind in Chicago, is expected to dramatically cut wind-induced sway.
Also, on why the exterior face is vertical rather than diagonal:
Quote:
It’s also functional. Had the perimeter columns been set on a diagonal, about 5 feet of interior space would have been unusable because of the gap between the column and the exterior walls, Eckmann said. Such a tight fit was equally important in Vista’s hotel rooms, which are considerably smaller than the condos.
