Why are people with houses, land, and families more likely to be conservative than urbanites who rent and dont own a car?

Idk why is the sky blue? why is water wet?

Putting aside the fact that this is wrong, nice job totaling missing the point.

Upscale, educated suburban geographies have been trending increasingly blue over the last few elections, and last election they (almost) all went solidly blue. For whatever reason, suburban Milwaukee hasn't followed national trends.

man, talk about missing the point.

he's not asking why suburban voters tend to be more conservative than urban voters, he's asking why suburban counties in milwaukee tend to be noticeably more conservative than suburban counties in other metro areas.

it's a suburb vs. suburb discussion, not a suburb vs. city one.

And why the trend has barely budged in three decades.

Suburban districts surrounding cities that experienced severe racial tension and animosity in the 1960s-1970s and which were/are populated by a large amount of white ethnics (Eastern European, Italian) tend to be more conservative, as residents are more likely to tolerate the social rightward swing of the Republican Party (in exchange for shoring up their status vs minorities) than their counterparts in other cities/suburbs.

i'm not a historian, but i don't think waukesha, ozaukee, or washington counties experienced much racial tension and animosity in the '60s/'70s.

per stats i posted earlier in this thread, these counties are very uniformly white today, and were even morseo 50 years ago.

Re: "ethnic whites", that doesn't explain why Milwaukee is such an outlier though.
