For one and a half glorious months, 20 years ago, I worked in the Bradbury Building. I'll never forget it.

Drone Videos of Los Angeles

I've always thought the LA skyline was underrated. Here is a cool collection of drone videos of LA:

Finding a parking spot at Griffith Park on a weekend is quite a challenge, but your patience is worth it thanks to beautiful views over the city below. The park was a gift from a mining giant in 1896, covering 5x the size of New York City's Central Park. While you are there, pop into the Observatory, which was built in 1935.

If you don't have a car, catch the cheap DASH buses that make the trip from points downhill for only 50 cents a ride.

Back downtown, the Intercontinental's lobby on the 70th floor is a great place to get your bearings. Many windows offer free views or you can grab a snack at the Lobby Lounge.

Beautiful city photos of LA, thanks for sharing.

Btw, the last photo inside the men’s restroom was quite an experience. I couldn’t figure out that the urinal was actually at the window. I walked in with another person and we both were looking around trying to figure out where to take a piss. It wasn’t until one of the urinal sensors flushed that we realized it was at the glass.

After Austin/San Antonio, this is next on the list for a visit.

Shopping dominates the streets south of Pershing Square, with many jewelry shops occupying stately-looking historic buildings. My walking tour covers parts of South Olive, South Hill, and South Broadway. Sprinkles of new developments can be seen along this area, along with the homeless presence.

Broadway used to be the city's entertainment hub with many theaters along this stretch. Sadly, the area has seen better days and now looks quite gritty.

The Tower Theater opened in 1927 and can seat 900 on such a tiny site.

The Orpheum Theatre dates from 1926 and was renovated in 2001. A 12-storey building sits on top of the theatre, which has been converted into live/work spaces.

Eastern Columbia Lofts' unique turquoise exterior is quite catchy. Opened in 1930, its 13 stories once served as the headquarters of furniture and clothing companies. A renovation in 2006 has turned the building into a luxury residence.

I congratulate you . the photos are magnificent. Interestingly, the first photo, the one of the Los Angeles City Hall , is my favorite. Have you chosen it as your first photo for some reason, is it your favorite building ? or has it just happened to be the first of this thread?

In the arts, Los Angeles is one of those cities that has transcended physicality and even metaphor, and has become a bonafide literary device. Usually, that device is employed to depict a dystopic lost paradise, the human vermin, decay of the human mind, or the impossibility of harmony. However, one thing I always notice and appreciate in Los Angeles photo threads is the evidence that, for a very long time, a lot of very hard work went into making Los Angeles beautiful. That work was done without irony, without cynicism, and as a gift to the contemporary citizens at the time and to us, the citizens of the future. A great deal of old Los Angeles appears -- to someone who's never been there -- to be utterly lovely. Of course everyone is aware that no place's history is pleasant or clean, but these rich architectural ornaments still surviving, and many newly scrubbed and polished, seem to suggest a boldness to hope and be joyful. It's so easy to give in to the notion that life is a thing without joy, without meaning, without a mooring... but to decorate a building is to put down an anchor, declare beauty and meaning and joy. That used to be a common consideration, but as we as a society have given in to existential nihilism, it's come to be a thing of courage and I love to see it.

It is historically interesting and City Hall is often the city's symbol, so I picked it as #1.

I was quite impressed with the architecture, outside and inside.

Wow! What's the building with the globe chandelier?

Great pictures all around! I like the interior ones! Downtown LA is a hidden gem when it comes to old, historic buildings!
