From that latest picture, it almost doesn't look half-bad. Still, it's basically a blue glass rectangle like half of the other DT office buildings, but it certainly doesn't look like what I'd expect to come from a state office building.

I made a Lego building that looked like that when I was six.

I'll bet IT wasn't half bad. This building IS half bad. Breaks my heart that Speck was involved. He is better than this.

This is so ugly. Why are there such low expectations for architecture in this city??

Because this is a drinking town where ugly men and women, AND buildings look better the more you drink. When the other building (which shall remain nameless) gets built, it too may become more tolerable when viewed from the bottom of a bottle of JD.

This project is topped out and permits were filed to remove the tower cranes.

Permit 1: https://www.austintexas.gov/devrevie...erRSN=11581834

Permit 2: https://www.austintexas.gov/devrevie...erRSN=11581828

The best thing about this project is that it will free up Block 71 for development. I hope we get an update about that project soon.

This is from the webcam a few minutes ago:

I might not be a big fan of this building, but it does bring out the best in the Norwood tower, one of my favorite buildings dt. Now that's contrast!

^ I agree. It's not my favorite tower, but it is the epitome of filler and consolidates a lot of the UT offices, so that's good.

I was going to say the same thing. It blocks the other stuff behind it and provides a relatively plain backdrop for the beautiful old building to stand out in front of it, and for that I appreciate it.

I find myself wanting them to hurry up and finish so somebody else with a more interesting project can have their cranes.

What is wrong with you both? It looks like an 80s suburban office tower on 410 in San Antonio. No, no, no.
