55 Hudson Yards Tops Out 51 Floors And 780 Feet Above Street Level, Midtown West

esterday, YIMBY brought you fresh renderings of Related’s planned supertall at 50 Hudson Yards. While permits for that project were only partially filed earlier this year, across Hudson Park & Boulevard, the building’s sibling at 55 Hudson Yards has now officially topped-out, as seen in the latest photos from Tectonic.

The skyscraper stands 51 floors and 780 feet to its rooftop, which currently makes it the second-tallest building in the immediate vicinity, but that prominence won’t last for long. 15, 30, and 35 Hudson Yards will all surpass the tower within the next year or so, and it will lose its eastern views a few years after that, when it will be surpassed by 50 Hudson Yards to the east, and 3 Hudson Boulevard to the west.

55 Hudson Yards totals 1.269 million square feet, and within that, there will be 1.12 million square feet of commercial space. The ground floor will house retail, and above that, the tower will be entirely office, with leases already secured for a number of prominent law firms.

There’s no stopping the private equity bone pickers from gobbling up space in Hudson Yards. Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners inked a 30,000-square-foot lease at 55 Hudson Yards — the latest addition to a growing cluster of leveraged buyout and hedge funds on the Far West Side.

The company has signed a lease for 30,000 square feet covering the entire 48th floor at 55 Hudson Yards, where it will join a bevy of financial firms and lawyers filling the building’s 1.4 million square feet.

Stonepeak was attracted by the new construction and magnificent views and is leasing the last tower floor available in the building.

The building caters to the boutique financial firms. Point72 Asset Management, a neighbor in 717 Fifth, will move to 182,447 square feet on the 4th through 8th floors. That company manages the assets of the prominent investor, Steve Cohen.

Daniel Loeb’s Third Point will move to the top 49th-51st floors. Other tenants now include the law firms Cooley and Boies Schiller & Flexner plus a gaggle of other financial firms.
