except from North Beach and parts of Nob Hill, etc. They need to get the cone further cleaned and much better lit.

I never understood why the Transamerica Pyramid was not much more prominently lit considering its landmark status in San Francisco.

The top was much more pleasantly lit during its first decades.

the old building at 300 Grant is just about gone, ultimately to become this: http://www.socketsite.com/archives/2...ake-three.html

it's weird / rare to see change like this in Union square, at least over the past 10+ years

The building was just demo’d. Happened pretty quickly.

Wow! The exterior is so ugly and the building is so short. Hate it.

I also love this dramatic redo and expansion of an existing building.

I'm trying to remember what it used to look like but can't--got photos?

Seems like it's right nextdoor to the "heart of darkness", aka Linked In's HQ.

I love seeing the renovation & reskinning these old mid-rises, but even more excited for the infill and density increases on the neighboring lots. This area will feel far more cozy and contextual once projects like 95 Hawthorne, 655 Folsom, 667 Folsom and 350 2nd St (and even the possible Moscone Garage lot between Folsom and Howard on 3rd) are done.

Unfortunately, most (if not all) are relying on the Central SoMA plan to get pushed through before any real progress.

I'm intrigued by your "hear of darkness" label of LinkedIn. Care to expand?

222 Second St. It's just so . . . black.

http://www.socketsite.com/archives/2...francisco.html

Actually, in this photo I think I can see the "old" 633 Folsom, next door indeed.

Not sure how that is possible. 633 Folsom is a block away at the corner of Folsom and Hawthorne. The entire Harrison St. wall obscures that view.

the before-and-after image had actually already been posted a few weeks ago when the project started

as has been pointed out, LinkedIn (222 2nd) is on the corner of Howard, not Folsom

It seems that the Central Soma plan passed the board tonight.

An incomplete and perhaps not up-to-date list.
Offices:
598 Brannan Street 922,291
400 2nd Street 421,000
610-698 Brannan Street 2,030,560
88 Bluxome Street 833,040
505 Brannan Street 165,000
725-735 Harrison Street 770,301
110 5th Street (5M) 633,500

Residential:
One Vassar
5M
400 2nd Street
330 Townsend Street
655 4th Street
650 Harrison Street
667 Folsom Street
988 Harrison Street
915-921 Howard Street

The city will look completely different from 101 in about 6-8 years, especially with One Vassar & 725 Harrison bordering the freeway.
