I think that it's about time I updated my construction status and timeline list. As before all heights posted discount any spires, but crowns and roof heights are counted. ESB is on it's way to getting knocked out of the top 10!

Key:
: No work has been done on this building at the time of this post
: Site prep, no matter how minimal, has been done at the time of this post
: Construction is on hold
: The building is under construction
■ : The building has been completed

Over 300M tall
1 Vanderbilt ~500M (Completed by 2021)

Three Manhattan West ~250M (Completed by 2016)
514 11th Ave. ~250M (Completed by 2020)

(I added 22 Thames Street since it hasn't been granted the lower height AFAIK and it will be a supertall for now.)
((Added 425 Park since the design is apparently getting revised upwards. Source: http://www.yimbynews.com/#/2013/09/4...-avenue.html/1 Also included a 250M-300M category))
(((225 W57th not shortened after all!)))

I don't know for sure but it'll be plenty tall, even moreso if they choose to buy air rights from GCT in addition to using all possible zoning bonuses.

^^^And if the 217 w 57th rumors are wrong or outdated then we'll have to switch this list .Plus with the luxury residential boom and requests for the highest views in the city we will probably have many more tower proposals above the height of the current tallest (I'm talking MEGATALLS BABY) before the end of the decade if not by 2015 with construction dates around 2016-2020.

If I am right then the Chrysler and ESB will look like the small old grandpa and grandma of NYC.

As long as we have some 900-1100 ft buildings balancing out these giants then I'll say this: LET THERE BE SUPERTALLS!

What would YOU like 217 W 57th or 1 Vanderbilt to look like?

You know somethings definitely good when one can say the ESB could be knocked out of the top 10. Well, change is good!!!! The question now is with the fate of the tallest in the city? Will become true for WTC1 if her spire counts or not? IDK if they have made a official decision. That council of tall buildings and heights.

Spires don't count, I think a building should only be classified by its roof height or architecture adornments, such as the Chrysler buildings spire. Not antennas. The CN tower isn't considered a skyscraper, yet it's 1800 ft tall, so why should antennas on top of buildings be considered in their height?

^ Question: you don't consider the John Hancock and Sears Tower's antennas an "architectural adornment"? Even though without them their character would drastically be altered?

No, because they are antennas and not architectural features.

^true they are not architectural but they would greatly alter there presence on the skyline. I'm hoping we get a spire on the "Nordstrom" tower too, a well integrated one mind you.

Update - long overdue!!

- 225W57th aka Nordstrom Tower: 1,550ft or 1,450ft or 1,250ft. I really hope New York breaks the 500m mark.
- 111W57th Street: now 1,350ft (411,5m)! Another 1300 footer for New York!
- 22 Thames Street: 882ft (269m), 70 floors.
- 425 Park Avenue: 905ft (per DOB) now. With the fins, we could get a supertall here.
- 610 Lex.Ave: potential supertall, see Midtwon East rezoning; thanks @ Crawford)

EDIT: updated first page.
