That old Post Office building won't rise to a thousand feet. But the footprint of Tower 2 is fairly large when you consider the entire footprint,
as compared to the Freedom Tower footprint. We've only seen a partial footprint so far.

I have a question about the mechanical level towards the top of the tower...does anyone else think it's looks pretty beat? I really wish they could do a better job of hiding it. And that dinky triangle on the top has always bothered me. Why didn't they put the mechanical portion of the skyscraper towards the bottom in order to allow the floors to continue all the way up? They could have created some UNBELIEVABLE executive suites at the very tip of the skyscraper.

Anyway, the foundation is wild!

I think it's fine. The tower's lighter at the top.

These are the renderings that have me concerned...

The ones you just posted look fine, so hopefully these are old renderings!

Those are from an old video animation. The design of Tower 2 has since changed, as well as the top of the Freedom Tower. The heights are all accurate though.

But I'm speaking about the part of the western part of the footprint where the actual tower will rise. It's basically the same size as a regular skyscraper like 7WTC.

I assume that the eastern, lowrise portion of the footprint will be trading floors. I wonder if any of it will be retail as well.

Got this from the PA website, shows the potential retail space.

Right, and its the part of the tower that rises basically the full height, when you said footprint, I thought you ment the base of the tower.

Trading floors are above the retail...

Here's another view of the retail layout below the entire site...

The level of retail this complex will offer is quite extensive. I like the fact that while there is a good deal of it below grade (and multi level below grade at that, which is pretty cool) there is also a good amount in the actual towers. This will make for a good dynamic of vibrancy in all areas of the complex.

Wow! Base-wise this is probably the best tower. Next is 3WTC and then it's between Tower 4 and Tower 1. It'll give New York a boost in the skyline game (and no, I'm not talking about skyscraper race like Dubai. I'm talkin REAL cities that look beautiful aka Hong Kong, Canary Wharf, etc)

Jesus that last render is incredible. The more I see this tower the move I love it, it's simple and elegant, a very worthy addition. Excited to see this tower creep up to street level over the next 12 months.
