While Canderel is in the early planning stages, the projected development will include approximately 140,000 square feet of prime retail space with close to 500,000 square feet of Class "A" office space.

ca donnerait approximativement combien d'étages ca ?

FWIW, mtlurb currently has a 10-page thread, started in November and still active, about that project... which is the exact reason I considered it "old news" (I didn't dare to mention that fact in my other post, but now that you've read between the lines, I guess I might as well let that info slip on this forum).

Good riddance I say! That parking lot is the mother of all satanic parkings!

MONTREAL | 1215 Phillips Square | 33 FLOORS

This is a new office development in the heart of Montreal, on a gigantic empty lot facing Phillips Square, between Rene-Levesque boulevard, the city's main business street and Ste-catherine street, the main shopping artery. Not too many details so far but we know at least 25 floors.

Canderel Completes Acquisition of 1201-1215 Phillips Square
Development Company Acquires Strategic Property in Downtown Montreal

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Jan. 15, 2008) - The Canderel Group of Companies (www.canderel.com), a leader in the Canadian real estate development industry announced today that it recently closed on the acquisition of the parking lot located at 1201-1215 Phillips Square in downtown Montreal.

This parking lot, located steps from prime Ste. Catherine Street retail and the core downtown office buildings of Rene Levesque, is one of the last available downtown locations in Montreal for the construction of new office and retail space.

"This is a substantial acquisition for our firm as this future development will be the first new development in downtown Montreal that will be LEED certified." says Jonathan Wener, Chairman of the Canderel Group of Companies. "This development will continue to demonstrate Canderel's commitment to building a greener today for a brighter tomorrow."

Daniel D. Peritz, Senior Vice President of Canderel in Montreal, adds that "the location of this future multi-use development is extremely strategic for large format retailers given it is adjacent to St.Catherine Street. For office users it is an ideal location that is close to services, in proximity to the underground network and has excellent access to the public transit and the major arteries serving the downtown core."

While Canderel is in the early planning stages, the projected development will include approximately 140,000 square feet of prime retail space with close to 500,000 square feet of Class "A" office space.

If you think the previous was unclear and bland, well imagine our reaction when this recent rendering came out! I like the top, the base though is perhaps the most vulgar late 70's modernist revival.

The portion along Square Phillips is awefull. It shouldn't be approved in its actual design. First, I do not understand why the developper didn't try to buy the land on which Classy is located so that the building would cover the entire street facade.

As all the parking lots disappear in Montreal they're being replaced by ugly stubby 25 floor buildings, talk about taking one step forward and two steps back. Montreal is slowly becoming the Sao Paulo of Canada (endless sea of ugly mid-rise buildings)

Not all of them are ugly but this one certainly won't improve the quality of modern architecture in Montréal.
