What's not happening in Boise? It's the Lubbock of Idaho!

I'm in love with the northwest interior and Boise's a nice-sized city with low cost of living, friendly people, and easy access to a multitude of gorgeous places and outdoor activities. And I have friends and family scattered all around the NW.

But one thing I'd miss the most is that a gorgeous highrise like 70 Rainey is unlikely to be built anywhere in the Inland Empire (as they call it) during my lifetime. This might end up being my favorite residential tower, or at the very least it will be my favorite parking podium.

Idaho talk aside, the article doesn't give any start date or word on the financing. It's still a work in progress as this quote from the article indicates:
"We're right in the middle of a lot of processes."

Maybe they saw this thread and wanted to reassure people.

My source told me last week that the father just purchased a very expensive home in Austin, that this deal is most definitely at GO. My guy was his loan officer.

I can't imagine that the senior Mr. Sackman required the services of a loan officer to purchase a home in Austin.

I deal with high net worth clients all the time, most of them get loans. Not because the are "required", they do it because they want to conserve their cash for other investments. And I can assure you what I was told is true, it is from a trusted source I've done loans with for 20 years.

It actually makes perfect sense. Mortgage the house at 3.5-4%, and keep all that cash to earn 6%+ on investments instead. It's essentially why we didn't put a ton down for our new home.

The tower crane permit was filed this morning. It says it's going up March 1st, so site prep must be getting underway soon. There are no underground levels iirc, so March 1st seems reasonable if site prep gets underway soon.

First, how dare you be so dismissive as to set aside talk of Idaho! "Idaho: America's Moldova"

Second, I don't see how you come to a downer conclusion from that quoted statement. Can you imagine erecting a skyscraper without it entailing a lot of processes? It sounds like progress to me, but maybe you know something about developers' double-speak that I don't know. Taken at face value, "We're right in the middle" means that there's a lot of activity going on right now, and "a lot of processes" means that said activity pertains to many aspects of what needs to happen in order to bring this to fruition. So, take THAT, ya nattering nabob of negativism!

Yeah, I saw that. Not sure why. Unless they submit a different site plan or show renderings that suggest it's been changed, I'd stick with the original numbers.

I don't think it's all that bad. I live nearby so I'm over there quite a bit. Besides, if I lived there I would most likely use River St as my main point of ingress/egress.
