I'm not saying that I think this old building blends in perfectly with the new tower but the best of the old building will be there and in better shape for much longer than it would have otherwise continued rotting away...
Considering was was originaly expected when redevelpment was propsed a few years back (i.e. moveing Roper House and probably razing these houses completely), the results won't be so bad. And the fact that these will end up as the frontage of two town homes, which is waht they have always been, it will keep more of it's original caracter.

Walked by yesterday. They just started digging another level, and I'd say its likely the last.

Cathedral Hill from the Delta Hotel Penthouse (you can also see the Fusion crane peeking out there).

That will be an amazing vantage point if those towers by City Center ever go up!

I must confess I like Claridge's LeBreton Flats development. I bet when our grandchildren see final product they will be pleased with what they see...

Our grandchildren will not see the final product. Perhaps our grandchildren's children will get to see the final product at the rate they are going!

I would call it mediocre. But yes, as things are going up, it does seem a little less offensive (LF).

Looking on google maps, the angle seems to align to somewhere at the UQO*; but (a) I don't know that campus at all, so (b) I can't say where you'd have to be get the height right (higher than the Escarpment, but then just looking over those trees in the foreground).

* it would hardly be any great discovery on my part, since you openly said that that's where you took the pic you just posted of Ashcroftland from

I was right about here, in the hallway of this building, third floor (just up and to the left where the sidewalks make an 'x').

I wanted to get into that other new building on the far east end of the campus, but it's all locked down. This spot was open to the public, at least. This part of the skyline is all you could see unfortunately from this point.

it's a neat perspective: with the angle cancelling out all of the gaps between buildings for streets, lanes, setbacks, etc., it makes it look like all of the buildings in the CBD were kinda built on top of each other.
