The new owners of Atlantic Station are preparing for the next phase.
Houston real estate giant Hines, which operates the retail town center, is currently overhauling storefronts, designing an expansion of its Central Park and putting the pieces together for the property’s largest expansion since it debuted more than a decade ago.
H&M, a fashion retailer known for its affordable wears, is set to grow from 26,000 square feet to nearly 40,000 square feet in Midtown's Atlantic Station.
In doing so, H&M Atlantic Station will become the retailer's Southeastern Flagship.
The H&M in Atlantic Station is already the highest performer in the metro Atlanta area, as well as the southeastern U.S., according to a company spokesperson.

In 2018, both Hines and AMLI Residential expect to break ground on new office and multifamily developments, as well as expansion of H&M's current footprint to the 40,000 square-foot flagship.
The technology, developed by CJ 4DPLEX, delivers an "immersive multisensory cinematic experience," incorporating onscreen visuals with synchronized motion chairs and environmental effects such as water, wind, fog, scent, snow and more—much like a theme-park 4D attraction.
The theater is expected to open early 2018, according to the 4DX representative.
Hines plans 2018 start on ‘spec’ Atlantic Station project
Quote:
Developer Hines has tweaked the design of a proposed $80 million Atlantic Station office building to echo the industrial roots of the former Midtown steel plant.
Hines would start construction on the project called T3 without office tenants signed to leases — also known as “going spec” in second-quarter 2018.
I remember seeing a similar rendering of the H&M that showed a Forever 21 in the adjacent retail spot rather than generic signage. And I wonder if they're planning to expand the park even further now that Rosa Mexicano is closed.
