Ironically, I had just been thinking about this proposal yesterday. I can't read behind the paywall, but the provided quote seems to imply that this rendering may no longer represent the current plans, however tentative? Did I read that right? It would be a shame, since I really like this design, potential parking podium issues notwithstanding.

Parkside Partners has a solid portfolio of projects. They will build something outstanding. Something that fits the existing streetscape and neighborhood.

The new rules went into effect in October. So that tower, which isn't happening, would have been approved under the old zoning.

Got it. Thanks for the info. If this were proposed today would it be rejected based on the new rules though?

I noticed that they have One Museum Place, Amli Arts Center, and Opus represented in the master plan. I don't think this could have been known in 2009 unless its been updated.

Nobu hotel and office tower to headline major Phipps Plaza expansion

http://www.myajc.com/news/local/nobu...P3SmbWMXRcNSO/
Quote:
Phipps Plaza, Atlanta’s shopping playground for the upper crust, is about to undergo yet another transformation as the owners of the Buckhead mall attempt to re-energize the space with a new luxury hotel, restaurants, an office tower and fitness complex.

Owner and developer Simon told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution it will begin construction in the summer on a 150-room Nobu hotel and flagship restaurant, a 12-story office tower and a 90,000-square-foot Life Time Athletic fitness center. The overhaul will also include new dining options throughout the mall. The new projects are expected to open in phases throughout 2020. The project will not disrupt mall operations, Rulli said.

I don't know if it's been mentioned on this side but the people behind Castleberry Park have several smaller projects in the works. I'd love to see more infill of this scale around various parts of the city.

Downtown site sold for planned Hyatt Place

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/...-place-by.html

Quote:
The downtown Atlanta property at 300 Luckie Street has sold for $5 million, according to Fulton County records. The less-than 1-acre site includes a 1950s-era building that was once occupied by a school.

Earlier this year, Atlanta Business Chronicle reported a building permit was filed with the city to develop a Hyatt Place at 300 Luckie Street. Atlanta developer Songy Highroads LLC is behind the new project.

State moves forward with plans for 1,010-room hotel

http://www.myajc.com/business/state-...QC8tENMQN3MNJ/

Quote:
The board that governs the Georgia World Congress Center voted Tuesday to pursue a pre-development agreement with a Boston company for a hotel at the downtown convention center, an important step as the state agency crafts plans for the 1,010-room high-rise.

Construction could start after the Super Bowl in 2019, Poe said.

Add a helipad to 1180 Peachtree and we would have twins.

Dewberry Seeking Property Tax Break For Campanile Redevelopment Read more at: https

https://www.bisnow.com/atlanta/news/...elopment-82176
Quote:
Dewberry Capital is seeking nearly $125M in revenue bonds from the Development Authority of Fulton County to convert the ground level of the nearly 450K SF office tower into retail space, according to documents filed with Fulton Superior Court. The new bonds would also be used to retire $66M in revenue bonds Dewberry received for Campanile in 2013.

The proposed additional floors at the top of Campanile is not specifically mentioned in the bond documents but I believe that is also a part of this bond package.
