Dang. That's one heck of a sales center! Pretty cool. I still wish we had the height on this one though... It would have anchored the Midtown skyline so well.

Curbed article on No2 Opus Place

Quote:
The sales team is sticking to their ambitious timeline for construction, noting that work will begin by October, if not sooner. If all goes according to plan, the first residents will move in at the end of 2019, with the rest of the building finishing up in early 2020.

Unlike other condo projects in the city, No2 Opus Place will not be held back by the number of units purchased. Rather, the project will be self-financed and start construction regardless of pre-sales, says Haynes.

Are they looking to bring in preconstruction condo flippers like in Miami?

Opus No.2 website update with Opus No.1:

"All this, set on four splendid acres, featuring No.1 Opus Place, the all-new culture & retail pavilion designed by Richard Meier & Partners."

Also, site plan:

I find the addition of the art gallery disappointing, particularly if there is no plan for an additional tower.

Now the name is starting to make sense. I gotta say, I LUV it especially a new art gallery. I am assuming that a second tower is still planned down the road. There is certainly PLENTY of land for it on the site.

Edit: On second glance, it does appear that they are consuming ALL of the remaining land for the culture pavilion. If so then I agree, that is disappointing to go from a 3-tower proposal down to 1.

Doesn't look like room for a 2nd tower unless they build the foundation for Opus No.1 to support it somewhere in that footprint.

Also looks like they are designing the site so the art walk Midtown Alliance plan flows through the Opus No.1 building

The interior of the art gallery looks like it meshes well with the High Museum, wonder if they will coordinate with them on displays here:

Considering the High Museum was designed by Richard Meier as well, I Imagine they will work together. The change in height is what kills me for this. I'm all for more art in Atlanta, this just doesn't feel like an appropriate use of space all things considered.

I agree. Its a huge site that had originally planned to have three huge towers.

L.ARCH says that the second tower will be built on top of the Pavilion. If so then I think this project is a home run for Atlanta!

I hope they're designing the cultural pavilion for additional towers because that's a gigantic amount of space to be filled with a low-rise building. The footprint is almost twice that of No.2

Also, why are they picturing the 920' tower on their website?

From foxmccleod on another thread:

"L.ARCH is correct. I have seen drawings that show two additional towers above the pavilion, surrounding the skylight. The plan shown above has two grey bars that represent two future tower cores."

The smaller gray rectangles within the actual proposed cultural buildings. The two un-released buildings will essentially surround the cultural building's skylight, from what I can tell. I don't think they're the actual size/shape of the buildings.

Wow! A lot of towers claim to set a new standard but for Opus Place it will actually be true (at least for Midtown).

Hanover Midtown Construction Cam?

Is there a camera for this development (881 Peachtree Street)?
