I received notice today that my dermatologist office at this site is being demolished. Good sign that this project is moving forward...

The office I'm referring to is here:

Dermatology Affiliates

For many years that was our physician's office ( now at Piedmont West) and it served many in the Midtown Area. The main house was a beautiful building with a beautiful waiting room, however the attached building was just an unattractive addition. In any case, many in Midtown will remember this office and the fine physicians who worked there.

The Business Chronicle speculates that Anthem could build its own building, or sign long term lease at Bank of America for about 300,000-square-feet. Here's hoping that they strongly consider 1105 WP so this tower can get going.

The article states it may be a long shot to build custom, although 300,000 sq. ft. Is a lot of space either way. However, I'd love to see them hop on this project. While I want to see more built along north Ave due to potential transit line transfer station connectivity, I much prefer this project's design. That said, this location would likely benefit from the proposed midtown-ish circulator.

As much as I'd like to see this project realized, I'm also excited by the prospect of BoA Plaza being leased up. That's too great a building to sit half empty.

The Article in the AJC today about Selig's NW Atlanta project has this tidbit at the bottom:

Quote:
In December, the firm announced plans for a three-tower project in Midtown with a 32-story office tower, residences and a luxury hotel.

Steve Baile, Selig’s chief development officer, said the firm is in negotiations with “a couple” of tenants for the office tower, and expects to announce financing and details about the hotel and residences in the coming weeks.

I heard a rumor from a credible source the office tower @ 1105 is now 700K up from 600K. So we may be looking at a 37/38 stories office building which should solidly put it at or above 600'.

Well that's what they have in the Bisnow article concerning 14th & Spring. I noticed that as well but wasn't sure if it is accurate.

To be more specific, Midtown DRC now labels 1105 W. Peachtree at 770k sq. ft. of office space (no idea if/when this changed... I cannot find the original DRC agenda with 1105 W. Peachtree):

While originial reporting by ABC in December had:

"Selig's plans for 1105 West Peachtree St. include 645,000 square feet of office space, 80 residential units, a 150-key boutique hotel, and street-level retail."

I wonder if its related to that mystery company that is searching for 600,000 square feet of office space in Atlanta.

You wonder how brand-new 32-story Atlantic House feels about being blocked on all sides by buildings as tall or taller. Oh well.
