Keg Creek Subdivision to Bring 365 Lots to Senoia

http://times-herald.com/news/2017/10...lots-to-senoia

Quote:
A subdivision with 365 residential lots is proposed for property on Seavy Street and Hwy. 85 in Senoia.

The Keg Creek Landing development is on 248 acres currently owned by the Frances Cleveland Estate and Bray Properties, and wraps around land owned by Berti Lu Nations-Miller.

The developer is Brent Holdings LLC/Brent Scarbrough.

The property was zoned for a conservation subdivision several years ago, according to Community Development Director Dina Rimi, and the conceptual plat for the development went before the Senoia Planning Commission on Sept. 19. The planning commission voted 3 to 2 against approving the plat.

The conceptual plat request will go before the Senoia City Council on Oct. 16.

Another 3.2 million sq. ft. Business Park Coming to Coweta County

This was proposed a while back, but it's supposedly still in the works. .

The Golf Course (Orchard Hills) was closed down in December of last year. This was originally expected to break ground in March, but I don't think anything has happened yet.

That said, the variance to allow for 3.2 million sq. ft. (instead of 1.2 million) wasn't approved until June of this year. According to the link below, the entire project won't be complete until 2025, with the first building (warehouse) expected to be done by 2019.

In addition to industrial space, it will also include nearly 300,000 sq. ft. of retail space and 800,00 sq. ft. of office space.

I guess change is hard.

What else does anyone expect? It was only a matter of time before South Atlanta began to take off, as they can't possibly sprawl any further northward given how horrible the traffic is already.

The Gwinettization of Coweta County and the Cobbization of Henry County is well underway, so now it's Fayette County's turn to join in the fun.

In all fairness, Newnan and McDonough at least have decent potential to become a mini-Urban metropolis / satellite city to Atlanta. A huge asset for them is that most of the other suburbs don't have an authentic and walkable downtown from the 1800s.

These places will really take off if they ever get the Columbus and Macon commuter rails going (not holding my breath of course).

And it's not so much the sprawl-ability I'm underestimating, but I'm amazed at how disproportionate it's been and continues to be (so far). I don't know of any other city that has primarily sprawled in one direction (even the cities in Texas have fairly well-rounded sprawl).

I'm currently in Newnan finding a home and I've heard nothing but people complain about Atlanta's traffic. Yet, my drives to/from the city have been a breeze (30 minutes, not pumping the brakes once). In fact, I had to do the troll face when I still saw people sitting in traffic headed into town from the Northside at 11am yesterday.

Another Movie Studio & Master Planned Community Coming to Fayette County

The site plans for Founders Studios have doubled to 200 acres. The studio itself will only be 60 acres, but similar to Pinewood Studios, the rest will be a work / live / play district. It will be the largest purpose-built film studio outside of Hollywood.

Groundbreaking is expected by the end of this year with the completion of phase one expected by late next year. It will be located in Tyrone.

Rinnai Corporation, manufacturer of the number-one selling brand of tankless gas water heaters in North America, announces it will triple the size of its North American headquarters in Peachtree City, Georgia. Rinnai America Corporation will expand its operations by building a new two-story headquarters building and by launching a North America Innovation and Training Center.

...The first phase of construction will focus on the new headquarters building, with associated move-in expected in summer 2018. Renovation and expansion of the current headquarters into the new Innovation and Training Center is expected to follow and be completed by year-end 2018.

The Innovation Center will be adjacent to the new headquarters with easy access between both to enable all associate teams to continue working closely together. Upon completion of Rinnai's 37,560-square-foot headquarters building and 25,110-square-foot Innovation Center, the total expansion will bring Rinnai’s footprint to nearly 63,000 square feet on its 8.4-acre campus...

And Yet Another Studio Coming to Fayette County

Groundbreaking for this is also expected by the end of this year, with completion expected in late 2019.

North Fayette to get county’s third set of film soundstages

http://thecitizen.com/2017/07/12/nor...m-soundstages/

Quote:
A third film studio has plans to locate in Fayette County. Cinema South Studios plans to construct six soundstages, workshops and office space on Ga. Highway 138 in north Fayette at the Fulton County line.

Cinema South Studios co-owner Alvin Williams, an entertainment executive in the music, television and film industries, said the site is situated on 24 acres along Hwy. 138, immediately east of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School.

Williams said the project is currently in the funding phase.

The Hwy. 138 site will include an initial six 19,800 sq. ft. concrete tilt-wall soundstages, workshops, office and production support facilities, Williams said.

The idea is to expand the site into a full-service picture/post-production facility supporting digital and film workflows within the 200,000 sq. ft plus production complex, said Williams.

Piedmont Newnan Hospital requests to add 18 more beds

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/...d-18-more.html

Quote:
Piedmont Healthcare is looking to grow its Newnan, Ga., hospital by adding 18 more patient beds.

The project would cost $8.2 million dollars. According to a letter submitted to the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH), the project will require the renovation of 11,500 square feet on the fifth floor of the hospital to create a new unit.

Currently, the fifth floor space is occupied by hospital administration, physician offices and clinical support space. Physician and clinical support will be relocated to another existing office space at the hospital. Administrative staff temporarily will be relocated to trailers on the hospital's campus while a new medical office building project is underway.

Piedmont Newnan currently has 136 beds. This project would bring its total to 154. But before it can kick off, Piedmont will need to file a Certificate of Need with DCH and gain the agency's approval.

It looks like the Madras Connector project is moving forward. Eventually, this will yield to a newly constructed Exit 49 on I-85 (with access to both Hwy. 29 and Hwy. 34).

Between this interchange and the new Poplar Road interchange (Exit 44), Bullsboro Rd. should get some much needed relief from all of the traffic congestion.
