It’s truly something how competitive this market is and how developers have the drive to want to outdo each other. Lucky for us, we’ll reap the benefit of their competiveness.

Trump and his organization have a more global focus when it comes to development nowadays. He has insisted that he has no obligation to outdo any of his local competitors because his recent project in Chicago tops them all (hence he has nothing to prove). However, he has always wanted to make a mark in a big way on the Manhattan skyline, therefore he can never be counted out.

I retract that. 440 Park will be very tall but pretty disappointing. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

It will be a very, very, very conventional (albeit very tall) tower. Carnegie 57, while shorter, is far more interesting. In other words, Torre Verre will be the only landmark from an architectural perspective.

You said it would make everyone ecstatic. What changed?

AKA a box. I hope they at least use good materials. No Elysians allowed in NYC.

The height will make everyone ecstatic. The design will sorely disappoint. But for the serious height, this will be no Torre Verre -- not even a Carnegie 57 (and that's saying something).

As long as most of its height isn't a spire, i don't really care. A good facade can do wonders you know.....

If people approach this will very low expectations, they won't be too disappointed in the end.

Ultimately, I would have preferred to keep the townhouses.

Hardly, but if people were disappointed by One57, they'll be VERY, VERY disappointed by this, notwithstanding the height. This will be no Shard or Torre Verre -- or even Girasole.
