for that area, i think the height is absolutely perfect. i'm just wondering what the adjacent properties mentioned earlier could be, considering everything midblock built out. any details there? i'd hate so see anything of a good fsr come down.

"New York's Diamond District is today crummy, cramped and hopelessly outdated. With its hawkers on the sidewalk and internal gritty bazaars of gold and gems, it feels more like a developing country than the middle of Midtown."
Districts like their description of the Diamond District are partly what make New York so interesting. I find it odd when people show such contempt toward vibrant yet not polished neighborhoods. Anyway, just a small rant. The tower is looking great though, and I think it will be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Yeah, it's hidden in the forest, but a very cool building.

Robert just went to the future. What does the World Trade Center and the Hudson Yards look like?

Yeah it does look like this thing has topped out. That visible truss is likely a beefed up top floor to distribute the load of the mechanical equipment. Amazing how a 590 foot tall building in the middle of Manhattan looks so insignificant.

1.) Topping out ceremony with final beam was a week or two ago for this.

2.) More interesting about the shot above (which I assume is from somewhere in the ESB (too low to be from the observation deck), is that one57 is about to crest the other towers right next to it.

Does anyone know if a 35 ton Derrick crane will lower the tower crane at end of job? If so, should make for some interesting photo opts!

The base is really great at night when the gem shaped window frames catch lots of colors from the street. The effect isn't strong in daylight.
