Downtown Anchorage

Yes, Anchorage as in Anchorage, Alaska. Home to 43% of the state population, I myself am included into that statistic! Not that you remotely cared, but I had to think up some intro for this photo thread no?

Come visit, why don'tcha? Free tour will be on me (ask glowrock for testimony).

Anchorage has some nice tall skyscrapers.

When were these pictures taken? Do the leaves start changing colors by now?

OK, there's a couple of shots there making Anchorage look all big city and stuff, but here's my real questions:

1. Who started the fire (maybe someone trying to add excitement to a photo thread)?

2. What's with the high heels while kite-flying?

3. How can the old dude and the break dancers be in the same thread?

4. Where did the whale costumes come from?

5. Are you really a citizen of Anchorage, or do you just play one on TV?

Thank you Mr. mthq (if that's even your real name).

Aww thanks guys.

xzmatt- these photos were taken from May to August

Ex-Ithacan - You know I had to get in my big-city-illusion-shots of Anchorage.. its mandatory!

(1) The fire was started by a plumber with his torch (accident, everybody is okay except for 1 cat), (2) The high heels were so she can dig herself into the ground in case a kite was about to take her into the air, (3) presidential candidate Mike Gravel loves hippity hop, dontcha know?? (4) The whale costumes came from Greenpeace, (5) I actually just play one on SSP, and my real name is Cornelius.

Nice shots, mthq... Glad my iceberg sombrero didn't make it into your photo tour!

Unless I'm wrong, looks like those pics were taken during this summer, but those pics of Anchorage looks great!

I imagine all the deciduous trees in Anchorage must be in fall colours by now (A lot of trees here in Edmonton are already turning into fall colours now).

Yep. Fall colors on the streets, rain, and snow on the mountains. No way Anchorage looks green right now.
