Does anyone have information about the two micro projects that have been operating in Portland for a few years now, in NW and NE? What sort of results have they seen?

Photos: Developer opens new multifamily buildings

A pair of apartment projects completed recently mark the first forays into new development in the Portland-metro market by The ConAm Group, a San Diego-based multifamily development, acquisition and management firm. Pavilion Construction and Shapiro Didway served as the respective general contractor and landscape architect for both projects: Cadence Apartments, a 166-unit mid-rise structure on North Williams Avenue in Portland’s Eliot neighborhood, and Haven Apartments at Orenco Station, a 150-unit garden-style development on five acres in Hillsboro.

SERA Architects designed the Cadence Apartments, which last week was granted a temporary certificate of occupancy and will be turned over in August. The building features five stories of wood-framed apartments, ranging in size from studios to two-bedrooms, over a below-grade parking garage with 85 vehicle parking spaces, bicycle storage and repair space, and a dog wash. The U-shaped building also features a courtyard with a projection screen and amphitheater seating as well as outdoor grilling space. Also, a top-floor “Rhythm Lounge” includes a kitchen and “kegerator,” plus a deck with panoramic views of downtown Portland.

Notice of a Type II Decision on a 1935 N Killingsworth Street (side note: would it kill the city to include some renderings or even an elevation in the decision notices?)

probably (they're VERY sensitive at BDS).

seriously, though, this is WPA. you can probably make a few assumptions about what it will look like.

Corner of N. Cook and N. Mississippi

Will be interesting to see what goes into that small space between the two projects.

Can't believe how changed this intersection is. N. Fremont and N. Mississippi

Down the corner it continues. N. Cook and N. Borthwick Ave.

A street? Looks like a public right-of-way on the maps?

On Google Streetview, it appears to be an unimproved street ROW, like in many neighborhoods on the Eastside. And this angular building fronting on N. Cook St. has a mostly blank exterior wall facing north to the ROW, as if it faces a sideyard property line rather than a street. Too bad. The blank wall is not pretty.

Proposal would move longtime N. Portland railyard, develop waterfront property

As Portland mulls thorny transportation questions – like replacing the Interstate Bridge, tolling sections of Interstates 5 and 205 or bringing passenger ferry service to the region – one man is suggesting a perhaps more ambitious project: move the railroad.

Mohamed Badreddine, a 28-year-old Portland native, has approached city leaders and Union Pacific Railroad in hopes of starting a discussion about moving the railroad away from its more than 200-acre waterfront property Albina Yard facility.

Mayor Ted Wheeler signed a letter of support Nov. 18, giving the far-reaching concept, which would open up an enormous swath of valuable riverfront real estate, a first inkling of legitimacy.

Does anyone know whats up with the project on the corner of Vanouver and Shaver? Construction seems to have been stalled for quite some time.
